So, whilst my main medium is streaming this year I've made a conscious decision to work on my music and other content more.

Quick bit of Stu-lore - I studied music tech and music production for 6 years from the age of 16 to 22 back in the early 2000s and also played in a band for a while. Uni, unfortunately did kind of suck the fun out of music for me for a while so I took a rather long hiatus but being surrounded by so many creative people within Twitch communities and having a bit of income to spend on upgrading my music software I decided to get back to it.

I play bass and whilst I could play a bit of guitar it's been years since I have. I've tried to learn drums and have an electronic kit (so I can still practice once baby arrives!) but the joy of VSTs and digital audio workstations (DAWs) now are they are worlds away from the quality I was using back in the early 2000s.

Despite being a bassist I must admit that I'd struggled with making good rhythmic drum tracks for years so I invested in EZ Drummer and some packs and the top three tracks on the link below are made entirely using VSTs, no live instruments, just me noodling and programming the note lengths and things.

"Post" is a WIP as I really want to make it into a longer track though it does feel like it could be an interlude for an album. "Down" is also a WIP, it does have lyrics and I just need to get the vocals recorded and give the whole thing a master. "Feeling Chipper" again a WIP but me trying to get out of my comfort zone and creating an early 2000s indie pop rock track like The Kooks.

They're entirely different genres and I'm planning on doing 12 tracks this year, but I want them to be a real smorgasbord of genres and with the aim of getting more confident and making more refined playlists for people to use on streams/YouTube without fear of being DMCAd and things!

Aside from that before I started streaming I started doing custom consoles and t-shirt designs on my site Retrollectables.

I needed a creative outlet after I moved 100 miles from my home town and was feeling at a bit of a loose end so I threw myself into doing designs to scratch the itch and potentially get some passive income. Below are some of my favourites and I'm actually looking at doing some skateboard deck designs too. Art was never my forte but much like music, the tech has come a long way and gives a great access point for content creation that we might have thought not available before.

That Gamecube looks amazing! I love a good console conversion.

Do you have a favourite console conversion that you've done?
