100% picking up this bad boy when it arrives, one of the most beautiful ships to enter the game in my opinion. Don't get me wrong I love my explora-conda, but she's big, she's bulky and she can't turn, its literally space that reorientates itself around her. Looks like they've put some thought into this one and I love that they've based this off the Lightning's.

The rotating engines are a really cool touch too!

I loved the design, with some buts, especially the lower part of the ship, I think it did't fit so well with the whole design. But what get me real exited was the news that it will have a jump range similar to the Anaconda and I love to explore the mos distant corners of our galaxy. Maybe this time I could buy it in pre-build to have it early

To me, it's a beautiful ship that, when seen from the front and from below, looks as if it's pregnant! Hahaha

But now talking about the ship itself, I think it's going to be one of the best options for exploration we'll have, looking forward to testing it out!

I cannot wait to hand over my arx to the pilots federation for early access and fly one of these babies right out to Colonia, I bet Jacques will be thrilled to see a new ship come down the docking bay at his station.

I cant wait to see what this new model can do.

Here at Hutton Orbital - we saw the name "Mandalay" and immediately thought NOT of the Mandalay Spitting Cobra - but the Barrack room ballad by Rudyard Kipling. Once we'd stopped telling each other that he makes EXCEEDINGLY good cakes, we rewrote the ballad. Then broadcast it.

With apologies to Rudyard Kipling:

By the old Coriolis Station, lookin' out to the abyss,
There's a ship that I am cravin', and its name I can't dismiss;
For the hum is in the thrusters, and the trade lanes always say:
“Soon you'll fly, you Hutton Trucker; soon you’ll helm the Mandalay!”
Soon you’ll helm the Mandalay,
Let the Asp and Python lay:
Can't you hear the engines roaring from the bubble far away?
Dreams of flying Mandalay,
Where the stars so brightly play,
And the void calls out like thunder, far from Sol and Lave away.

Shipyards in these busy stations, don’t have what I need or want,
Though the Anaconda’s mighty, and the Python’s cool and gaunt,
But the Mandalay is different, built for roaming wild and free—
She’s the one that sets me dreaming, of the places I could be!
Dreams of flying Mandalay,
Let the Asp and Python lay:
Can't you see her engines glowing, cutting through the Milky Way?
At the helm of Mandalay,
Where the galaxies display,
And the cosmic winds are blowing, taking me so far away.

I've seen ships of every kind, from the Cobra to the Clipper,
But none of them compare, no, not to Mandalay the Skipper,
She’s got curves that glide through space dust, and a frame that holds the line,
She's the dream of every Trucker, longing for that ship so fine.
Dreams of flying Mandalay,
Let the Asp and Python lay:
Can't you feel the stars are calling, lighting up the coming day?
At the helm of Mandalay,
Where the void will guide my way,
And the galaxies are turning, evermore and night to day.

When I’m sitting in my hauler, plodding on from dock to dock,
I can’t help but think of Mandalay, the ship that time unlocks,
She’ll be fast and she’ll be sturdy, and she’ll take me anywhere,
From the farthest edge of nowhere to the stars that none yet dare.
Dreams of flying Mandalay,
Let the Asp and Python lay:
Can't you taste the thrill of flying, far beyond the Pilots’ sway?
At the helm of Mandalay,
Where the space lanes stretch away,
And the stars like gems are shining, in the black and endless grey.

When I fly the Mandalay, where the dreams of stars are made,
Where the void is never silent, and the nights don’t ever fade;
And when I’m there with Mandalay, she’ll be my guiding star,
Through the endless void of darkness, where the galaxies afar.
Dreams of flying Mandalay,
Let the Asp and Python lay:
Can't you feel the future coming, in the shimmer and the sway?
At the helm of Mandalay,
Where the stars will light the way,
And the Mandalay is waiting, at the dawn of a new day.

Out of the three ships so far, this one has my excitement the most. I love how sleek it looks & the unique design is beautiful. Especially those rotating thrusters! I'm curious as to how the tba ship kits will look.

Depending on the cockpit view, this may replace my beloved Asp Explorer.

Happy to hear you like it!

This is easily about to be the most popular ship in the game for bubble taxi and exploration. it's wide form makes me think that it will also have superior yaw maneuverability. But what got me so excited was that the dev team mentioned that it's aerodynamic form was a design factor for atmospherics. The mere mention is enough to give me hope even if misplaced. Fingers crossed!

Really hope those wings mean "split thruster" ability like on the HOTAS for A-10 Warthogs. Imagine the FA off wing spin if you could cut the thrust independent on one thruster of the two big thrusters?

And that Cobra head unit in the front better detach as a SLF for planet inspections.
