Well, I have a ???? story to share - weird, funny, sad? idk.

After I told my friend about the game, in 2023, he got excited to check it out, and in January 2024, he messaged me in the morning saying he had managedto get it for free on Epic and had completely forgotten about it. I went over to his place and taught him the basics of how to start and trading and mining. He played for a few weeks - we even did some activities together - but then he stopped.

Then, I invited him again, and after a lot of convincing, he finally agreed to join me because of this bounty, haha. I went to his house, and... this happened:

I waited him for more than an hour!!! I even wrote a poem (translation ahead) while waiting for him to wake up in the building's parking lot (a neighbor I know let me in, but he was completely out—I was actually a bit worried since it was the middle of the afternoon, but he just sleeps really deeply):

My poem:

In the first hour, I opened a beer. An IPA tall can is more than enough for one man, a man who is chained by the shackles of modern society's walls and boundaries, with its semi-shared housing buildings. Art, however, sets us free. Whether on a good sound system or in headphones, as it is for me, music - the most versatile and ancient of arts - soothes and excites, gives and takes. Amen to Music god.

That day, I went home with empty hands and heart. But I got over it!

The next day, he invited me again, and this time it was for real:

This time he was awake.

He reinstalled the game, and now I was teaching him how to exploreto and engineers mechanics. He didn't make it through the grind. As soon as he realized it would take over 10 runs to fill just 2/3 of a single material stack, he was out - but we played for like 3/4 hours.

Unfortunatelly, I didn't even think to capture the moment somehow - I should have taken a picture. I won't lie, I brought the IPAs I hadn’t drunk - since he was asleep anyway - and was just so happy to see someone else besides me playing one of my favorite games that I forgot about everything else, lol - to this day, I haven't met anyone else in my city who plays ED. Maybe it's just too specific, as everyone around here seems to only like sports games or FPS.

Well, that’s it. I hope it didn’t come out too confusing... it was all confusing even for me haha

When left waiting, write poetry. I like it!

I took a mate of mine out to do some mountain scaling on foot as he hadn't done much exploring outside the usual visit to a settlement. He was a bit green to climbing in Elite, so I shared some wisdom I received from a random guy at the system bar. We had a lot of fun during this session, but I don't think he needed my help climbing after all!

Location of this beautiful planet is I Carinae - body 3A.

Not one of the most recent but still valid, I've helped one of my friend get into Elite, he's new to this game and had problems with the controls so I have explained to him the basics of the movement and what he can do for the start. I've explained him different types of activities and helped him get on a station and choose courier missions.

I know he's not playing this game quite often now but I'm still sending him messages about new content with a little explanation so maybe he'll get involved in this game 😅

From what he says, it was too difficult to start and unfortunately I have to agree, Elite is quite hard game to understand from the outsiders but maybe one day I'll get him into it 😁

Took CMDR Aelina along for a ride through a surface CZ. I am proud to report that they followed up with me while I was editing to say that they were able to go out on their own and win another CZ.

Here's me lettimg my boy loose with my Elite commander, a thing he's avoided up till now. It concerns me (after ten years of playing) that he's pretty much got it down by the end of his first session. Is it me? am I just rubbish at games? hahaha

This is very sweet! First-place is yours. We'll leave it to you to decide whether you share the reward :)

Hahaha oh thanks so much! I think there's no chance for me there, he's already hung a proprietary eye over the bounty and mentioned various things I might like to get him if I win anything! 😅

W

Congratulations on the win! And yes, I could feel your pain. Keep working on him, he'll learn to live Elite eventually!

Taking on Elite content in on-foot combat is an exciting, skill-testing experience. Here’s a guide to help you tackle it confidently!

---

1. Optimize Your Loadout

Weapon Selection: Pick weapons suited to both close and long-range encounters, like a balanced mix of a shotgun or SMG for close range and a rifle for long range. Make sure each weapon type complements your playstyle and the enemies you're likely to encounter.

Modify and Upgrade: Attachments like scopes, silencers, and extended magazines can give you an advantage. Also, upgrade your armor to resist specific damage types and add mods that fit your role, like extra ammo capacity or damage resistance.

2. Master Movement and Positioning

Stay Mobile: Elite enemies hit hard and often have good aim, so keep moving to avoid taking too much damage. Use strafing, ducking, and quick turns to dodge incoming fire and reposition yourself frequently.

Use Cover Effectively: Be aware of available cover and make sure to move between it, popping out only to shoot. Avoid exposing yourself for too long, as Elite enemies can quickly punish this.

Maintain Situational Awareness: Keep an eye on enemy locations and any environmental hazards. Identify safe zones and keep some distance from explosives or choke points where enemies could trap you.

3. Adapt Your Combat Tactics

Conserve Ammo and Use Headshots: Ammo can run out quickly in Elite combat, so aim for headshots to maximize your firepower and take down enemies faster. Short bursts or single shots help conserve ammo and improve accuracy.

Use Grenades Wisely: Grenades can clear groups of enemies or damage tougher opponents. Use them strategically, like before advancing into enemy lines or when breaking an ambush. Remember, some enemies may dodge or scatter, so anticipate where they’ll move.

Stagger and Control Enemies: Use abilities or tactics to stagger or control enemies. This can keep heavy-hitters at bay while you focus on clearing weaker enemies.

4. Take Advantage of Enemy Weaknesses

Scan or Assess Enemies First: Many Elite enemies have specific weaknesses, such as vulnerabilities to certain damage types or weak points on their armor. Use any scanning ability or visual cues to identify and exploit these weaknesses.

Prioritize Targets: Focus on taking down high-damage or healing enemies first, as they can quickly turn the fight against you. Coordinating with teammates to prioritize these targets can be crucial in tougher encounters.

Break Enemy Armor: Some Elite enemies have layered defenses; use weapons or ammo types that are effective at penetrating armor to make it easier to damage them.

5. Resource and Ability Management

Pace Your Abilities: Save your highest-impact abilities for critical moments, such as damage phases or when you’re surrounded. Use defensive skills when you’re low on health or caught out of cover.

Stock Up on Supplies: Before entering Elite combat, check your stock of medkits, ammo refills, and grenades. Health packs are lifesavers, so keep them ready for emergencies.

Avoid Overusing Energy-Draining Abilities: Many high-powered abilities or weapons can drain energy quickly. Keep an eye on your energy reserves, using low-energy options to conserve power for critical moments.

6. Adapt Through Experience

Analyze After Each Fight: Elite content often requires a few tries to perfect. After each attempt, think about what went well and what didn’t. Were you too exposed? Did you need a different weapon? Small adjustments go a long way.

Learn Patterns and Mechanic Cues: Elite enemies often have distinct attack patterns and cues, such as charging up powerful shots or signaling an area attack. Recognize these signals and be ready to respond with dodging or finding cover.

7. Team Communication

Coordinate Tactics and Targeting: If you’re with a team, communicate about which enemies to focus on, when to push forward, or when to fall back. Quick calls can make all the difference in Elite combat.

Share Resources if Possible: Some games allow teammates to share ammo, health packs, or cover fire. Make sure to support each other to increase the team's survivability and efficiency.

Focus on Team Synergy: Each player can bring unique skills to an encounter, so coordinate to use them at the right time. One person could focus on crowd control while others deal damage, for example.

Elite on-foot combat requires precision, adaptability, and teamwork. With practice and a sharp eye for details, you’ll not only survive but thrive in these challenging encounters. Good luck out there!

  • Try looking for Raxxla, which is mysterious and hiden object/planet/system/station/information. Actually noone knowa where is it and what it is. Try your luck.

  • Evidence that it Raxxla really exists is questionable. But it can be found in some game lore and texts, mentioning Dark Wheel. Game developers or designer also confirmed Raxxla being a “real” and hiden somewhere in the Galaxy.
