After spending some time trying out the current demo on steam I think the game has some great potentials in the action RPG genre.

It's a nice blend of fast action combat, character building and exploration that we all know and love. The futuristic dystopian setting is one of my favorites as well so that's also a plus in my book.

As for the game itself, I work in graphic design and UI/UX so I always appreciate when I see developers put their attention to details for the game UI and the actual world/stages.

For the combat and gameplay, I think it's abit early to tell but so far I think it's pretty fluid and designed to reward the players pretty well for trying to learn the different mechanics. I enjoyed the first boss alot when it finally clicked for me.

And then there's the class/gear system, we only have presets in the demo so I can't really tell how it will be in the final version but there's a decent amount of variety so I hope there's more to come. I enjoyed all the classes availble because they play pretty different too.

All in all a hidden gem I glad I found thanks to Just. Looking forward to try the game on release this upcoming May.

Here I will explain in more detail why I like Empyreal.

The truth is I like Empyreal because it's an RPG and as such I like RPGs, but what Empyreal has is that it has a world of possibilities to create enemies, scenarios and/or events with the cartograms, just imagine the possibility that some cartograms have a theme of a swamp, a volcano or even an abandoned cyberpunk city, and in each of these cartograms there could be different minions with different effects, like in the swamp all the enemies could give poison with each hit, in the volcano fire and in the cyberpunk one... well I can't think of anything there, but you get my idea.

And these same cartograms could have events depending on the difficulty, like rain and when being attacked with ice the effect is easier to apply, or maybe that the lightning is more effective (I'm talking about affecting the player, not the enemies)

Another important point of Empyreal is its graphics. Empyreal's graphics are very good; just by looking at the shadows and lighting, you realize they've made an effort to provide the highest possible quality. And that's a very positive point.

I also liked the character customization and NPC missions that impact the story. The dark atmosphere and stylish design give it a mysterious feel.

I mostly focus on dodging and reloading I keep forgetting to heal and use the special abilities :P To be honest, I'm a casual at best in this genre.

I got curious about this game because of this platform so I checked it out. It is not my usual type of game, but I really enjoyed exploring the map and I'm looking forward to seeing more of this. What stood out to me and made me really like playing, was the general aesthetic and their way to use light to create a great atmosphere. I like beautiful games and this one certainly keeps up with my expectations!

The game has a lot of cool mechanics: a fluid gameplay, challenging battles from weaker monsters to good boss battles!

But what struck me most about the game was how unique its classes are. The style of gameplay using the Glaive is very much focused on parrying and dodging and returning immense damage. The mace + shield gameplay style is focused on taking damage and controlling the combat to take down enemies, movement is no longer the main focus. And finally, the cannon class has very nice ranged combat with few melee moments. The damage is thunderous with their abilities, and I found them the most difficult class to play.

But it was exactly these big differences that delighted me most about the game. I played the same maps using different classes and the experience was totally different. What's more, the skills have options within the class itself, which allows for even greater variation. That for me is the game's most positive point!

It was a lot of fun playing this game, especially since it seemed to be a refreshing new themed game especially for me who has played a few games like this. There were a few things that surprised me and made it fun and enjoyable for me to play this game.

First, the build world is very different, the first time I logged in I thought it was a medieval theme (First impression without seeing the pv) it turned out not to be the first time I entered the battle or maybe it could be called a cartogram this was very fun, I didn't think that the cartogram had several different backround settings, especially what I liked the most was the background like a dead planet/desert with buildings like ancient Greece. Btw during this free period I also tried all the available jobs ranging from glaive, mace and cannon but the cannon job type got more of my love. Especially the barrier skill is very, very useful and helps me in completing all the dungeons, I didn't think it could withstand all types of attacks. What I also like is that this cannon job has very high mobility, especially the change of weapon type is very satisfying, its soo good. It looks easy to use but needs high mechanics to play the character.

Secondly, regarding the cartogram, when I first entered and fought I thought there would be certain quests and maps like clues, but there were not. And this is very interesting especially as it seems to display an impression of complete freedom as if the development gives players the freedom to explore and increase challenges, in each cartogram until they get to the boss place.

Then, the next thing is, I was surprised that the drop from the monster in the cartogram has a falling motion or what do I call it, like affected by gravity, when I defeated the monster on the sloping terrain, the drop item rolled down, its so fun.
