So as this is mostly new player-focused, we are going to hit the new player angle as we do in our videos and content!

We present, the T1 Basic Venture.

Nicknamed - Minor Rock Smasher

With this fitting, it is flyable on day one insertion of said new players, there will be no need to train anything at all to fly this, all they will need is the ISK to buy said ship and modules, which said new players will have by the time they finish the career agents.

Fit Credit: As always, the EoT team as a whole i.e. Eve Online Tutorials.

Description: With the venture's massive five thousand M3 ore hold, it is a great ship for new players, this enables new players to head out into the fields of ore and rocks and mine till it's full, head back quickly, reload and hit it again.

  1. This ship is a good niche pick for when you want to huff gas clouds as a fleet but don't need to use all the bells and whistles of a porpoise, as it can also huff a substantial amount of gas on its own as compared to a Porpoise.

Mining Foreman Mindlink

If you with to meditate alone, this beast lets you solo mine semi-AFK in high-sec as your drones bring in a measly 28.3 m3/s of ore (around 100,000 m3/hour), which barely fills your massive cargo and fleet hangars. But, add a compression unit and you can mine for 2-3 days without seeing a dock.

Become the Most Desirable Ally: Nearly double your fleet's yield with free compression! New players and miners will love you, you will always will have someone around to chitchat.

But what about Gankers? Not So Much:

Ganking Orcas in rookie systems (0.8-1.0 sec) is pointless for them. They'd need a fleet of 70+ Catalysts to take you down.

Travel Tips:

For extra safety, consider the MWD + Cloak trick (requires an abyssal MWD and faction cloaking device).

Boost Your Defenses (Optional):

Consider a mutaplasmid for damage control (cheap to self-apply).

Pith X-Type Thermal and Kinetic Hardeners offer affordable blaster protection.

Quality of Life Upgrades (Optional):

Survey Scanner and Auto Targeting System II improve drone and asteroid management (slightly reduce tank).

Orca is a solid flying Friendship Machine, a fit made by Limal for JustAbout community. Doubles fleet yield and adds compression service. Perfect for mentoring miners in high-sec. Drones handle afk mining while you welcome new players.

Description: This fit is designed solely for diving into low security space and null sec space to mineral ores. It's ability to warp cloaked, hide and operate with stealth is what makes it fit for purpose.

Credited Name: Eve Online Tutorials Team

In-Game Description: Ninja Miner was designed by Eve Online Tutorials Team, thanks to it's ship bonuses and ability to operate with pure 100% stealth, it's great for Null Sec / Low Sec space and even Wormhole space. Being the T2 Variant Venture, due to it's low mass, it can warp and run quickly.

I present to you an all-time classic and the backbone of the EVE economy – the Covetor!

A perfect solution for small corps, public mining fleets, or just duo mining with a hauler friend. While it may not be the best solo ship due to two factors—impressive mining performance and limited ore cargo capacity - it truly shines in a group setting. The Covetor can mine up to 4000m3 of ore every 2.25 minutes without boosts (or 7500m3 with boosts!), but its cargo capacity is a mere 9000m3. This ship is meant to stay in a pack, preferably with ore compression services like an Orca or a Porpoise.

The Fittings

Here's a list of fit parts for an end-game T2 Covetor:

Modulated Strip Miner II

Medium Core Defense Field Extender I

Medium Processor Overclocking Unit I

Hornet II x5
Mining Drone I x5

Simple Asteroid Mining Crystal Type A II x6

You can downgrade any element, specifically the Modulated Strip Miner II to a Strip Miner I, and fly that ship fairly early. But even with low skills it's performance is double the Venture.

Some stats excluding drones:

  • Strip Miner I: 20.6 m3/s (38.6 m3/s with Orca booster)

  • Modulated Strip Miner II: 29.8 m3/s with A-type crystal (55.7 m3/s with Orca booster)

  • T1 Drones: Add an additional 0.7 m3/s - not much, but in EVE, every number counts!

Tanking

The Covetor is not a tough ship. It takes three Catalysts to gank a Covetor with 18,600 EHP in a 0.7 security system, or two in a 0.5 system. The best strategy is to avoid ganking.

Price

you can get one for around 80-85 million, which means the break-even can occur:
298 Veldspar units/s * 14.5 ISK PU = 4321 ISK / sec (260k per minute, about 15.5 mil/h solo, or nearly 29 mil/h in fleet).

So we are looking at 2.7-5 hours breakeven.

Pro tip: Gankers are people too, and they can be lazy. Stay away from trade hubs where they can easily restock or gates where they earn isks. They are highly unlikely to travel 15 jumps to a dead-end system where only a few pilots are mining.

Enjoy your mining, and stay safe out there!

Ship Name: Ore-nom-nom

Character Name: Melamori

Description: Melamori's Ore-Nom-Nom, made by Melamori for Just About EVE Online. Thanks to its high mining yield and efficient ore extraction, it excels at fleet mining and resource gathering, especially while supported by compression services. Best used when mining in groups with dedicated haulers.
