Here's one more special bounty that we're running in conjunction with CCP Games. As well as winning our usual monetary prizes, at least one winner of this bounty will receive eternal glory - by which we mean, their name and fit featured in-game as an official Community Fitting!
To win a prize, you need to create and share a great fit for early-game Abyssal content. Keep in mind that EVE's Community Fittings are largely used by newer players, so we advise you not to go for anything too blingy. Still, if you have a great idea for a snazzier ship, it’s okay to pitch something more aspirational.
CCP may make some slight amendments to the winning fit, but as long as it meets their standards, then at least one of the winners will have their fit included and credited in-game.
Important: To win a prize and maximise the chances of your fit being chosen, read these instructions carefully and follow this format in your post:
Name -Give your ship a name
Fit -Provide a full ship fit and present it neatly. We recommend using bullet points to list out the modules
Description -Describe, for JA's purposes, why it's a good fit for the job and what its strengths and weaknesses are
Credited name - Provide the name, username, or moniker you'd like to be credited in-game
In-game description - Write a short (50-word max) description to be included in-game. That description will read something like '[ship name], made by [your name] for Just About EVE Online. Thanks to its [...], it excels at [...] and [...], especially while [...]. Best used when [...].' (CCP may slightly amend the description if your fit is chosen.)
This is likely our last of these guest bounties for now. So if you're yet to be chosen by CCP but would like to be, cut no corners and make the best fit you can!
Tristan is one of my favourite ships among simple frigates, and I want to share my basic fit, which I used in Tier 0 Dark Abyssal dungeons to complete daily goals.

It's a very cheap fit, with a price tag around 5 million ISK using simple T1 drones. However, if you have the budget, I recommend faction drones due to their superior health and extra damage.
The fit works well, with the only downside being that you need to watch your drones' health, as NPCs tend to switch and attack them. The countermeasure is to scoop them back to the bay and then launch them again. With hotkeys, these tasks are pretty easy.
It seems that Caldari ships aren't well represented for Abyssals. Sure, Worms and Navy Hookbills are great, but they're pricey for new players and require more skills. So, I checked the market for Caldari frigates capable of doing T1 Abyssals and after several tests found one: the Kestrel.
This fit is designed for absolute rookie players with zero days, zero skills, and it's Alpha-friendly. It works both solo and in groups of three, so you can multibox or have fun with friends. I tested it myself and will provide video evidence at the end of this post.
Word of caution! Although I consider myself an experienced pilot, including in Abyssals, you will need real piloting skills in addition to in-game skills. I recommend running a dozen Tier 0 (Tranquil filaments) before moving into Tier 1.

Total cost: Including faction ammo (mandatory) is under 5 million ISK. Additional costs: 4.2 million ISK for skill books.
Income: Abyssal loot is somewhat random. During my run, I managed to score 5.7 million ISK in about 17 minutes, so we're looking at roughly 15 million ISK per hour. Not bad for the first day!
Progression: The beauty of this fit is that you can progress with money and skill training, evolving into a Hookbill, then Hawks, or even a Jackdaw. These ships require the same skills and have a very similar piloting style.
Fit name: Melamori's Day 0 - T1 Darks Character Name: Melamori Desc: Kestrel fit, made for Just About EVE Online. Thanks to its beginner-friendly setup and low cost, it excels at T0 and T1 DARK Abyssals and quick ISK farming and with a break even within a single run. Best used when starting out as a new pilot with minimal skills.
Hey Sturmer - congratulations, you've been selected again by CCP! "Not only did he hit the mark of cheap and new player friendly, he also included a skillplan. He nailed it"
Exploits the Speed Buff of Dark Filament without the negative effect since we use Light Missiles. Very cheap and fun way to learn Abyssals very early. Speed Tanking is key.
The Boojum
An extremely cheap and effective Alpha Friendly Dark Filament Abyss runner, the Corax makes quick work of T0-T1 content. Exploiting the speed buff the Dark Filament provides while avoiding all the negatives since it utilizes Light Missile Launchers, this is a fun fit to start learning about Abyssal Deadspaces!

In-Game Description - This fitting is fully capable of wrecking Calm Electrical T1 Abyssal space, it is decent, consistent and cap stable, making you continuous money with ease.
This Hookbill fit was designed to take young players and especially long-term Alphas into the Abyss. It is supposed to work with the classical Tripple-Hawk in up to T5 Dark sites. It is flown exactly as the more skill intensive Hawk, so it allows for a smooth transition between the beginner and the advanced fit. A new player can get use it for their first steps and safely run T0 and if needed downgrade the compact BCs to T1 modules and save ISK. A well skilled Alpha account can upgrade the rigs, BCs and Missile launchers to their T2 variants and with some experience should be able to run up to T2 sites. Together with two relatively experienced Hawk pilots, this fit can certainly run T3 and with increasing knowledge of the pilots it can scale up. Due to the massive requirements of T6 sites, it will not be able to run these sites even at maximum alpha skills though.

This ship is the best choice for pilots that are looking to learn the abyss and eventually want to train towards flying the Gila in the abyss later on. The best choice of weather for this ship is Exotic but if you wanted to refit it to handle firestorms you could pretty easily do those instead.

At under 100m this is a fast paced, cheap, and fun cruiser for quickly completing t3 exotic filaments.
Previously, I kept a frigate in my Redeemer's escape bay, equipped with a dozen Filaments so I could complete dailies no matter where I was. They should reintroduce Abyssal content to the daily system! I've almost forgotten about this type of gameplay.
