So we didn't meet on EVE! We met on OkCupid, but I like to say we met on Divinity Social for RP. After about a year, it was time to bring her into my world of EVE, a sandbox driven by player interaction. I always throw my real friends into the game—it's the ultimate test. Can you handle this matrix-inspired submarine warfare game in space? If not, you can't tell me nothin'

She was the first romantic partner to take it to heart. Watching her go from "Why would they kill my barge in hi sec? :C" to "screw these nerds, I'm hiking up prices by 30%" was a trip. EVE shows you what people are truly made of, and who knew she'd be a market PvP champion? In addition we had a lot fun together as war clones in 514.

It might sound crazy, but some of my favorite moments with her are on EVE "dates." Even when it feels like a second job, being space dad and mom to our crew is something special. Her character is now 9 years old, and our son, at 7, is asking when he can start playing. :3

Rixx Javix and AlexGoesTheWorld - I love both of your submissions, but they're not what we're looking for for this one. We're looking for true love stories between players or characters roleplayed by different players. But your entries have prompted me to add a note in our calendar to run a romantic fiction and poetry bounty for Valentine's Day - so please do resubmit your entries to that one.

Ah okay, apologies. No I don't have any stories in that regard. I don't romance people in games nor does any of my characters, too much time spent waiting for people to care about me/my character while they expect everything from me. :)

Love is undoubtedly the emotion with which humans can most identify. What would life be without it, even though it doesn't always have happy endings?

This is the story of a player I had the pleasure of playing with from 2018 to 2020. He was a great mentor to me, not only in the game but also taught me many other things. But in this case, let's focus on the story, because yes, this good player achieved what few do: his wife shared his passion for EVE Online and played with him. They both flew in the same corporation, looked out for each other, owned the largest ships. While he was ratting with his Hel, she was guarding him with her Avatar. They helped new players, often giving ships to the newest pilots to help them grow.

However, life is not always fair, and unfortunately, his wife passed away—a quite significant blow. Despite this, respecting his wife's last will, he continued playing EVE and interacting with his comrades. As a somewhat curious legacy, she left him her account so that he would never feel alone. In this way, they would always be together, sharing their favorite pastime.

This is poignant and touching. Thank you for sharing it, Orik.
