so I'm going to say Legolas would be an interesting choice that could have his story fleshed out a bit more.

Title - Legolas's Legacy

The story would mainly focus on Legolas and his time after the war and his efforts to try and help rebuild his homeland and helping his people. The story would also delve a bit into Legolas early days through flashbacks. When a new threat appears and threatens his people he will call on his close friend Gimli once more to help save the woodland forests his homeland.

The Shadow of Sauron

The movie begins with a dive into Sauron's early years as Mairon, a Maia of Aulë. Initially driven by a desire for order and perfection, Mairon slowly becomes seduced by Morgoth's promises of power and control.

The story follows his gradual corruption, showcasing his transformation into the Dark Lord Sauron. We see his rise to power, the forging of the One Ring, and the relentless pursuit of dominion over Middle-earth. This epic journey delves into the complexities of his character, exploring the roots of his malevolence and the allure of absolute power.

This is a difficult one because I feel that Tolkien and Jackson gave enough screen time in the main trilogy though the former went a little overboard with The Silmarillion.

My pitch would be focussed mainly on the dwaves such as Balin. It'd be a nice tie in as well as he was one of the dwarves who accompanied Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit. LOTR didn't show a lot of dwarves outside Gimli. So it will be about their culture and the tragedy/ downfall of the excavation and re-colonisation of the mines of Moria along with the dwarves relationships with the other races such as the elves and how they stopped trading in the 2nd century which explain why the entrance of the Mines required Elvish to open.

The Dwarven Tale - Gimli's Journey

Gimli absolutely deserves more screen time and an expanded backstory in the LOTR world. He is an entertaining character with as much humour as he does heart and ferocity in battle.

This story would centre around Gimli prior to the Fellowship of the Ring and set up more backstory for his family and the Dwarven ways. It would be a geartfelt story but with graphic violence to really emphasise the destructive ways of war during these ages.

The story centres on Gimli and a group of fellow dwarves venturing to recover their families after their village in the grey mountains was decimated by a ruthless band of orcs. Their leader was killed by the orcs and thus the weight of leadership falls on to a reluctant Gimli.

The story will follow them on their epic journey of rescue and revenge. They will encounter many foes on route and lives will be lost, further adding to the heavy emphasis on grief experienced by the group. Ultimately, they will eventually rescue much of their families but not without tragic loss of Gimli's wife, who was rarely seen until her capture. The leader of the orcs slips away while the rescue is complete, leaving prospects for a second season and Gimli continuing his quest to avenge the loss of loved ones.

Beastenders

A soap opera starring the cockney orcs set in a square in Mordor. Orcs getting kicked out of the pub, falling out with their families and friends. Everyday life for a neighbourhood of orcs.

"Looks like meat's back on the menu, guvnor!"

Two thoughts:

1) I would sell my left arm to watch this.
2) If you want to be in the running for a prize, I suspect we'll need some more detail, and you'll need to centre it around one of the well-known characters from the original trilogy - but there's nothing to stop that being one of the more famous orcs.

antibird's avatar

In that case I would totally centre it around Gothmog - that potato-looking orc lieutenant from the Battle of Pellenor Fields in Return of the King. For the sake of the spinoff his name is actually Gothmog Mitchell and we discover that prior to the return of Sauron he was a landlord running a pub in the East-end of Mordor.

The first episode could start with the scene where he gets killed, and it could freeze frame just before with him narrating saying "You see that guy right there? That's me. You're probably wondering how I ended up here..." then the Eastenders theme tune starts over a rotating map of Mordor.

The show would chronicle his life prior to the return of Sauron and the everyday events of the locals in the pub. The series would eventually culminate to his reluctant re-enlistment back into the Mordor army.

Love it. And he really does look like a potato.

I would’ve loved to have seen a spin off with Faramir and Éowyn. You see her sort of falling in love with Aragon and obviously it’s not returned so towards the end of the third film you see her and Faramir basically glance at each other and it’s sort of indicates that they end up falling in love. I just thought I’d be really nice like love Story to see that and see what happens with those two, also her desire to prove herself in the battlefield, it would be interesting to see how that play out in a relationship.

Isildur

In the movie trilogy, he was shown for about 20 seconds in the prologue, serving as a trigger for the entire story. I feel that people might perceive him as a villain or a weak character. A movie starting from the moment where Isildur cuts the ring off Sauron's hand would be great to reveal his path to corruption.

Some key points:

  1. He is a Numenorean: This can uncover more about their history and culture.

  2. The Power of the Ring: Show how the ring slowly corrupts and chokes anyone's will.

  3. Post-Last Alliance Conflict: Delve deeper into the conflicts that arose after the Last Alliance of Elves and Men.

Aragorn

He is much older than you would assume by his appearance, and has seen a lot. There's a lot of backstory to him, which would very nicely compliment the LOTR movies and give more context to his relationship with other characters.

There could be an episode either as the prologue or a recollection about how his father gets killed and he is sent to Rivendell.

His relationship with Arwen, how they meet and how they fall in love with each other.

His relationship with Elrond, who was a father-figure and a mentor to him. Imagine we could see him grow up without any burdens of his heritage, and then later learn from Elrond who he truly is, how he gets the Ring of Barahir and the Shards of Narsil.

How he meets Gandalf and gets trusted with guarding the Shire.

We could see beloved locations from Lothlorien to Rohan as we follow Aragorn on his journey. He was a great adventurer, and this could also be a way to give the creators a free imagination to a certain degree, and create new adventures and new characters, which were not in the books, but could fit there. I'm usually not an advocate for such stuff, but there could be new characters created who do fit in greatly with the storyline without causing any harm to known events and characters. Like orc raiders or a long forgotten tribe of Rohan doing their own thing out in the wilds. What of the general population of Rivendell and Lothlorien? Elves we never encountered in the books or movies, but would be important in the early years of that human child growing up amongst elves.

The conflict between Elrond and Arwen, when he finds out that his daughter would choose love and death instead of the eternal life she was born with.

Another scene which was mentioned in the LOTR movies would be Aragorn chasing Gollum to gather information about the One Ring. This could be extended and explained a lot more, we could journey into Moria again.

And it could end with Aragorn walking into the Prancing Pony in Bree and taking his seat from where he's watching the hobbits arriving.

But... maybe there could be a second season of his life with Arwen after the events of LOTR.

And yes, I would only accept this is Viggo Mortensen would play Aragorn again because there's no one else who could do it better. Same goes for the other well-known characters as well, so we better get this approved and start shooting while Sir Ian is still gracing this world with his presence.

Alex Sinclair's avatar

I was reading this through with the recurring thought, "Yeah this'd work really well, but it'd have to be Viggo, right? It'd have to be Viggo!" Thankfully, it was all in safe hands.

He was perfect for the role, I can't imagine it with anyone else, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so!

ok so i think it could be really cool to have a tv series of boromir and faramir and their relation ship and events leading up to the fellowship of the ring. it tries to stay faithful to the book but story tells each episode.

Brothers of Gondor

Episode 1: “Heirs of Denethor”

  • Introduce Faramir and Boromir as the sons of Denethor.

  • Show their contrasting personalities: Faramir’s scholarly nature and Boromir’s warrior spirit.

  • For the action Gondor faces increasing threats from Mordor.

Episode 2: The Dream of Rivendell

  • Faramir dreams of the One Ring, Elrond, and Rivendell.

  • Boromir dismisses the dream, focused on defending Gondor.

  • Faramir secretly considers journeying to Rivendell.

Episode 3: The Forbidden Forest

  • Faramir leads a scouting mission into the forest.

  • Encounter with Southrons

  • Boromir’s impatience clashes with Faramir’s caution.

Episode 4: The Steward’s Dilemma

  • Denethor receives news of the Ring.

  • Faramir proposes aiding Frodo, but Boromir opposes.

  • Tension escalates within the family.

Episode 5: The Siege

  • Mordor attacks .

  • Faramir and Boromir fight side by side.

Episode 6: The Departure

  • Boromir leaves for Rivendell

  • Faramir remains in Gondor, preparing for the war.

probaly some inconsistencies but im a casual LOTR enjoyer.

I would also pitch an episode somewhere in the middle that steps away from the main characters of Boromir, Faramir and Denethor (similarly to episode 3 of The Last of Us stepping away from Joel and Ellie).

This episode focusses on the lives of a small, kind, poor but 'getting by through love and growing their own crops' family living in Gondor under stewardship. It would give us a microcosm view of a simple life within of the massive wars and adventures that they never realise shape their normal day to day. The kids would play, the father would go to market constantly (but lovingly) nagging his wife for something she's still trying to grow to perfection in her beloved garden. It would be sweet and homely.

Then at the end, just before the credits, you'll see her garden is finally finished and they can go to market with her beautiful, nurtured GOD DAMN TOMATOES BECAUSE I'LL MAKE EVERYONE HATE DENETHOR ALL OVER AGAIN!

L

That was immediately better and more descriptive than my pitch ! Great

No no, only additive. Your series sounds awesome!

Edited - I would like to see a mini-series on Wormtongue, he was fairly central to the storyline around Theoden, and I'd like to know where he came from, his past, how he ended up as the tool of Saruman, as in, what happened to push him down that path, because obviously he went through something dark etc.

Plus it's always fun to imagine a series on it, I think it could be a super dark thing.

Thanks EveOnlineTutorials. Check the bounty description again though; we're looking for a spinoff centred around one of the main characters from the original series 😊

The Eagles, this time they care because one love, one planet. Super Mega Eagle CGI, digital version of Frodo falling into the vulcano with the ring.

Alex Sinclair's avatar

Ha! Thanks Kane! I'm not sure whether this was intended as a bounty entry, but if it was, don't forget to hit 'submit to this bounty' - we'll also need some more details as per the bounty description. o7

Na, the movie is to short also my fav. submission would be a love story based on Shelob, SAM and Frodo.

I have a idea what if Gandalf have a movie or TV series.

Start when he was kids play with the friend and then he found someone who taugh him magic, then he grow up falli in love with girl and some many reason he leave her.

it's gonna be amazing story

I would love more than anything just a cooking show hosted by Merry and Pippin, not canon per se, but it would be so fun to watch and cook along to

Paul's avatar

Merry and Pippin prior to the events of the Fellowship.

Think last of the summer wine/ only fools and horses but in the Shire.

Each eppisode they would get in to some sort of mischief with a few of the currently unnamed hobbits getting dragged in. Maybe the odd cameo from Sam and Frodo but not so often it takes the focus away from Merry and Pippin.

L

Éomer i think this because he has very limited screen time and i think they could do so much with him!

plot: starts with Éomer as a child watching his father die at war this is the reason he wanted to be the leader of the Riders of Rohan, Éomer grows up to be a mighty young rider and he does little adventures with the rest of the riders i think this would add more lore to lord of the rings!
