Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga came out on Memorial Day weekend (usually one of the best weekends for movies to be released) and only made $26 million. A disappointing turnout for a film that cost $168 million. The film is trending to be a flop judging by the movie going audience despite great reviews by critics and fans. This comes as a surprise as many thought cinemas were dead following the shut down from COVID but the Barbenheimer phenomenon seemed to have breathed more confidence for the silver screen industry.
However it is becoming more common for viewers to wait it out until it is available for domestic use. The Fall Guy arrives onto streaming services only after 20 days in the cinema with the streaming version having 20 additional minutes.
Why do you think people are not frequenting the pictures? Do you wait until it is out on streaming? And what was the last thing you saw at the cinema?
