Scrooged

Hilarious parody of Charles Dickens' ghost story A Christmas Carol, where the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future haunt an obnoxious TV executive who finally comes to understand the mistakes he's made in his life and gets a second chance.

Starring an impressive Bill Murray, an even more impressive John Forsythe and some brilliant supporting actors, it's the kind of comedy that you can't get enough of, that you always enjoy as much as the first day you saw it, and that keeps a smile on your face at all times.

I guess everyone will have seen it about 30 times, but for those who haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

1989 ‧ Comedy/Family ‧ 1h 37m

It captures the chaotic, exaggerated essence of holiday family gatherings. Many can relate to the Griswolds' holiday mishaps. Memorable performances, especially by Chevy Chase. It's become a holiday classic, evoking warm, festive feelings. The film humorously amplifies typical Christmas frustrations. Physical gags like the squirrel in the tree or the electrocution scene.

Even though it's not very old, a film like this cannot be missing from the playlist to watch. It's an extremely Christmassy film that reflects the values of the past in a modern way. There are surprises, a love story and a happy ending. Young actors but with a good amount of experience behind them make this film ideal for both the younger ones and for families. Even at Christmas, important times are dealt with such as uncertainty and the desire to test oneself. And memories are always the basis of every choice, even at Christmas.

IMO, the best Christmas movie for adults is Die Hard! It's about love, justice, revenge and doing the right thing! It's a riveting film and very good for the family :) IT IS A CHRISTMAS MOVIE!

So if you are looking for a fun Christmas movie with all of the above included then here it is, Die Hard, the original!

"The Grinch", in my opinion, is the greatest film of my birth. Because it transmits a message of love and sharing that goes beyond materialism, so it makes you fully understand the meaning of Christmas. In addition, its protagonist is very iconic and it is easy to identify with him, thanks to his festive aesthetic and the memorable interpretation of Jim Carrey that make him unique and engaging.

Hey failedd, that's a classic, and Jim Carrey was made for the role!

I just wanted to let you know that we're currently an English-language-only platform. We'd like to add more language support in the future, but in the meantime, can use a free tool to translate text into English before posting?

This helps with accessibility and moderation, as it allows more of our members to reply and it lets our staff check whether content aligns with our code of conduct.

Personally I use the Google Translate app and browser extension, and I find both provide great results! Thanks for your understanding.

I have to count myself among the few who openly admit how much I like The Polar Express.

At the time, critics, movie gurus, and specialists tore this movie apart. They criticized almost everything: the special effects, the plot, and the character development.

For me, The Polar Express is a nostalgic tribute to the innocence we’ve lost—a magical journey into the dream world of the child we used to be.

I’m not a film expert, so I don’t expect anyone to agree with me. 🥲

🔴 JUNGLE ALL THE WAY 🔴 TURBO MAN

My favorite Christmas movie is Jingle in the way because it's a movie about a father trying to make happy his wife and son about a trendy toy Turbo Man which could be the latest iPhone could be the latest PlayStation could be the latest PC

so he becomes obsessed to please his son and the troubles they have to go through so with the comical situations in which we see Arnold Schwarzenegger and Rita Wilson it's amazing how this movie every Christmas shows us the reality that we live today with technology and getting to have the latest trendy gadget or toy.

something special about this movie

What makes this film special is that we see the last performances of Phill Harman who shortly after passed away in terrible circumstances is also one of the last films of Robert Conrad known for the cowboy series Wild Wild West the original in which he did not use a stunt double for most of the scenes is also one of the last films where we saw Sinbad this comedian who lately is very delicate health is a film that is truly revolutionary in my opinion.

Jingle all the way is my favorite Christmas movie

Surprisingly in this movie the saw cameos from James Belushi , the Wrestler the Big Show or Verney Troyer

definitely a good family movie

Let’s Participate it 💪🏼

My best Christmas movie is A Christmas Carol from 1999.

It tells the story of a man's transformation on Christmas Eve for whom Christmas is nonsense.

On Christmas Eve he is visited by ghosts and guided through different stages of his life.

They make him realize that his life needs to change (the 3rd ghost says wise things about modern life).

After being visited by ghosts, a positive transformation occurs.

For me it's gonna have to be The Muppet Christmas Carol.

Charles Dickens' classic Christmas story headlined by Michael Caine with the muppets thrown in for that extra dash of chaos. It's a faithful adaptation that doesn't hesitate to add in its own little twists, and the music is spectacular.

My favorite film for Christmas is: RED ONE - Christmas Alert with Dwayne Johnson

It's not the typical Christmas film you'd imagine, but it has a lot of action and a lot of humor.

I watched this film just because I'm a fan of Dwayne Johnson.

Everyone has to decide for themselves whether they want to watch the film

Love Actually

I don't really watch Christmas movies, but I do like this one due to the amazing cast. You can hardly find another movie with so many big names in it. The music is questionable at best, but it's interesting to watch for the various relationships as they go from dream come true to really typical everyday couples and their problems. Because of these I think it has that miracle feeling but also characters we can very much relate to.

My favourite Christmas film is Elf

I'm not a huge Will Farrell film fan but I find he is very funny in this movie. Some of my kids like it too so we will watch it together at Christmas time.

The film contains a number of other well known actors including James Caan, Bob Newhart, and Mary Steenburgen.

The 1947 movie: Miracle on 34th Street is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I love the light comedy, the family feel and, of course, Santa Claus. This movie brings the magic of Christmas right into my living room. If any of you have not seen this yet, please watch the original, the 1947 version. There is a newer one that is fine but I think the black and white brings that extra specialness to the story.

yea, was a tough decision between Miracle on 34th Street and It's a Wonderful Life, defiantly worth to watch

Scrooged! Because Bill Murray. Because it is funny and dark but also sweet and redemptive. It is a take on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens but set in 1980s NYC. It also has great performances by Alfre Woodard, Carole Kane, Karen Allen, Bobcat Goldthwait, John Forsythe, Robert Mitchum and many more. Favourite xmas film and favourite Bill Murray performance. It used to be on TV every year when I was a kid and now I always watch it on DVD at least once a year...

It's a Wonderful Life" (1946)

George Bailey (James Stewart) is about to jump off a bridge on Christmas Eve when a guardian angel intervenes, showing him what life would have been like had he never existed. Rewinding to rethink life, and ultimately embracing its value are central to the story.

I watched this movie as a small kid, and it left a lasting impression on me. In my opinion, it’s the perfect example of a Christmas miracle movie.

K

Ok someome has already mentioned home alone, so i gotta to the next best xmas movie in the world, also one that is contraversial... DIE HARD. I dont care what anyone says, it is the ultimate xmas movie for adults (and basically adult version of home alone) and ill explain

Kevin mccasllister = john mclain

Kevims home = nakatomi plaza

Hans gruber and thugs = wet bandits

It also had all the relevant parts to make it a christmad movie, christmas songs, christams party, christmas references.

It is basically a christmad movie

Hero! Yea it’s a Christmas movie for sure.

Also, check out Deadly Games/Dial Code Santa Claus. It came out a year before Home Alone in France and it’s basically the exact premise lol

My favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone, also because I grew up with it. Although I also like the sequel, I think the first one is the best, to watch while enjoying a pizza in front of the TV. Fun, full of Christmas atmosphere and it's one of the few films that is nice to see even on its own.

Vivisector's avatar

I don't know why you want an explanation of how elegibles Home Alone is for Christmas Time. Its a cult? Its funny? Its adapted for every era? Its themed by Christmas? Come on guys be serious: Home Alone actually can give us a feel of nostalgia mixed with joy, micidial combo for Christmas Holidays!
