Each community on Just About has its own treasury, with community treasuries receiving at least 50% of the revenue generated from things like advertising and sponsorships. This money is then shared with members through a number of individual and collective activities.
Here are the four main ways our members are rewarded for sharing their passion and expertise with their communities.
#1 Bounties
Through bounties, we gather together the community’s passion and expertise on any given topic, reward winning entries with real money, and then celebrate those contributions in their own articles.
Bounties come in many different flavours. They might be built around written submissions, TikTok videos, Instagram posts, or a mixture of different formats. However you like to share your passion, we want to reward you for doing so.
Some bounty rewards will be shared among multiple contributors, while others will be awarded for the single best submission on any given topic.
#2 Organic rewards
Organic rewards are small payments that go into Just About members’ wallets whenever their posts are among the most reacted to or engaged with each day. All our reactions are positive, so getting lots of them on a reply or comment is a good thing: perhaps it was funny, helpful, high in quality, or people just liked it. It’s the sort of thing we want to see on the platform, in other words.
If you’re posting lots of stuff like this, organic rewards should come as a welcome surprise, a nice little boost or tailwind. They’re our way of saying thanks to individuals for being a positive presence on the platform, and of setting the mood music across the community at a broader level.
They’re intentionally hard to manipulate - members won’t know how many organic rewards go out each day or how many other posts are in the running for them - and each individual payment is only modest. They should stack up over time, though, to reward members who are consistently positive.
#3 Advertising
In time, we plan to run ads on curated content on Just About.
If your contributions are used in that content - whether you’ve made a discussion post, a bounty submission, or you’ve aggregated videos or articles - you’ll be rewarded with a share of the advertising revenue.
Put simply, wherever your contributions are highlighted on Just About - and you’re tagged as a contributor - you’ll receive a share of any revenue that’s generated.
#4 Top contributors
A proportion of each community’s treasury is also used to fund organic rewards for the most valuable participants in that community.
You might have been the most helpful user, started the most popular discussion thread, or received the most positive reactions from your fellow community members. All these result in monetary rewards.
Initially, these payouts will be calculated on a daily or weekly basis, but we’ll be refining and adapting the calculations as we work through Beta.
Whether it’s a piece of fan art you’ve painstakingly created, a discussion that ignites the community’s passion, we’ll reward you for making the community a more interesting place to be.
#5 Community roles
The Just About team will act as Moderators during the Beta phase, but this role will eventually be handed over to our communities.
If you become a Moderator of a Just About community, you’ll qualify for bonus rewards that recognise the effort involved in keeping your community happy and thriving.
The best creators on the platform will also be able to apply for what we call a Curator role. Again, the Just About team will handle this role during our Beta phase.
As well as coordinating and publishing bounty articles, Curators are free to create articles for the community as they see fit, and earn from any advertising revenue those articles generate.
We'll have more to say on how these roles will be awarded to community members in a future update.
If you’ve got any questions about how all this works, ask away in the comments! We’ll answer them, and then also update this article if it helps clear up any confusion.
If you’d like to share any feedback on member rewards in general, please start a discussion thread in our Just About community space.
