I prefer a slowly growing platform, where people can make meaningful connections which can even turn into real life friendships.

On Facebook I barely see posts from my friends anymore, I get spammed with recommended posts instead just because once I posted about a movie and the algorithm picked it up and thinks I want to hear about it every day. It makes it really hard to stay connected with what's happening with your friends who might live far away from you and you don't speak often. Have to go and check people's page time to time.

Same with Xitter, the feed is all over the place. On my Following feed I see posts mostly from the same few accounts, no matter how deep I scroll down. Then I switch to the For you feed and somehow see there among the random stuff posts from my friends from days ago which never showed up on my Following feed. Have to start making lists to organise the people I follow into friends, brands and big influencer accounts...

The feed seems endless as well! No matter how long you (doom) scroll, there are always more ads, recommendations, or brands to see, but your friends' posts get lost in the mix.

I like the idea of being able to customise your experience with the feed, so I hope more places adopt this AT Protocol, but I do wonder how much they will be able to customise themselves.

I think I'd even like a timed segmentation, so in the morning it can be a mix of brands and friends when I'm waking up (consume mode), but later in the day it's more friend-focused when I might be more chatty (engage mode).
