In the voice of a rock radio station DJ: Rock music week continues here on JAMS as we look to give our members a grounding in all things rock. We're still looking for the best rock albums and the best rock artists, but now it's time to watch the best rock music videos!
While initially just a way to host songs on MTV, it's now understood that making a great music video is an art in itself. Should it enhance the music, heightening the emotion, or should it clash and contrast? Should it tell a story itself, even using dialogue and non-musical sections? Should it convey the energy of the live experience? Should it embrace the visual medium with bright colours? Musicians have used them to do all this and more.
Whatever a timeless music video looks like to you, we want to see it. The only criteria are:
It must be from the rock, metal, alternative, or indie genres (from classic rock 'n' roll onwards)
The video should stand by itself rather than rely on the strength of the song - a terrible song with a fantastic video would be a welcome submission to this bounty!
Post a third-party link - ideally the official one, or else it might get taken down - to your favourite music video, with just a couple of sentences about what works so well about it. The ten best submissions get $3 apiece!
