ok im going to do this from the my perspective as someone who produces music in logic for our band. im no expert but ill give my two cents.

WHEN THE SUN HITS - SLOWDIVE Guitar Work:

Shoegaze genre: Slowdive is renowned for their shoegaze sound, characterized reverby soaked guitars. the guitars create a dreamy atmosphere.

Chord Progressions: The song features a simple chord progression. But The interplay between major and minor chords adds emotional depth.

Ambient Effects: The guitars are drenched in reverb and delay. This creates a sense of space . The notes linger, overlapping like echoes.

Swells and Sustains: the sustained guitar notes blend seamlessly. They swell and fade

Multiple Guitar Tracks: Most bands when recording guitars will use multiple recordings of guitar tracks. you can tell Slowdive layered multiple guitar tracks in this song.

Stereo Spread: The guitars are panned wide, creating a spacious stereo image. This wideness enhances the immersive experience.

Subtle Drumming: The drums maintain a steady rhythm without overpowering the guitars. i.e soft snare hits and gentle cymbal crashes.

Solid Bassline: The bass provides a foundation. It’s not flashy, but it’s essential. It grounds the song amidst the swirling guitars. It doenst wash reverb like the guitars

Neil Halstead’s Voice: His vocals are in a sense hushed and soft. Harmonies: Occasionally, you’ll hear subtle vocal harmonies. They enhance the shoegazey - ness

Verse vs. Chorus: the dynamics shift between the verses and the soaring chorus. The chorus explodes with distortion, creating emotional peaks.

Production Techniques: The mix balances all elements—guitars, vocals, and drums. Nothing dominates; everything coexists well.

Analysis of "Main Theme" from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Musical Structure and Themes:

The "Main Theme" of Breath of the Wild is notably minimalistic compared to previous Zelda themes, which IMO aligns perfectly with the BOTW's open-world design and the theme of solitude and exploration. The piece starts with a lone piano playing a simple, haunting melody that evokes a sense of vastness and mystery, reflecting the ruined world of Hyrule the player is about to explore. Then you exit the cave and the camera reveals the world music telling you 'there is still hope!"

Motif and Development:

This theme subtly incorporates motifs from previous Zelda games, but it reinterprets them with a fresh, less structured approach to mirror the game’s freedom and non-linear gameplay. The piano motif develops gradually, intertwined with airy string arrangements and light woodwind flourishes that seem to invite curiosity and invite players to uncover the secrets scattered across the wild landscapes.

Instrumentation and Orchestration:

The choice of a sparse piano as the lead instrument in the theme underscores the isolation of Link’s adventure and the desolation of Hyrule. As the theme progresses, the orchestration builds slightly with strings and winds. This orchestration not only mirrors the game's visual and thematic spaciousness but also enhances the emotional impact of the exploration and discovery throughout the game. It's really hard to explain, but those who experienced the game will instantly get my point.

Cultural and Emotional Impact:

The theme’s minimalistic approach marks a cultural shift in video game music, favoring atmosphere and environmental integration over the more melody-driven themes of previous Zelda titles. This shift emphasizes the emotional landscape of the game, focusing on the feelings of awe and melancholy as players traverse vast terrains, from peaceful plains to remnants of a once-flourishing kingdom.

Narrative Significance:

Every note and rest in the theme serves to remind the player of the game’s core narrative of resurrection, and redemption. As the theme evolves, it subtly incorporates elements of hope and resilience, reflecting Link’s journey from a forgotten warrior to a hero reborn, echoing the game’s overarching storyline of restoring balance and beauty to a world ravaged by decay and corruption.

To conclude, The "Main Theme" of Breath of the Wild is a composition that beautifully complements the game’s revolutionary approach to open-world adventure and storytelling. Its use of minimalistic yet emotionally resonant music sets a new standard for how video game scores can enhance and amplify the player's experience in a deeply immersive world.

The sound of summer 2022 - As it was by Harry Styles A synth pop track with bright guitars and an brisk drum beat, everything is lovely in the instrumentals. Even the vocals are mellow and gentle which should contrast to the lyrics, but it doesn't. Through the lyrics - the singer tells a story of a break up using all too common phrases:

Why don't we leave it at that? Nothin' to say

When everything gets in the way

Followed by the chorus line: As it was

To me it sounds like the singer is having relationship issues and yet is unable to fix or commit himself to mending it resorting to the phrase 'as it was'. A common phrase of self-defeat such as 'it is what is is'. And yet the singer also commits that they are also the only one for him

Seems you cannot be replaced In this world, it's just us

This ultimately results in the fast-paced almost rap style of the singer narrating what will happen next to their relationship as if it is in a panic fuelled by emotion rather than rationality.

Go home, get ahead, light-speed internet I don't wanna talk about the way that it was Leave America, two kids follow her I don't wanna talk about who's doin' it first

The song I would most like to analyse for you all is Technologic by Daft Punk.

This song really does a fantastic job of highlighting a vast number of verbs relating to technological software and hardware, but the versatile list really gets you considering what else the song may be describing.

From classic IT related verbs such as 'burn it', 'charge it' and 'zoom it', to other verbs that could also apply to a range of DIY tasks, including 'fix it', 'upgrade it' and my personal favourite which sums up my own DIY capabilities, 'trash it'.

What the song does brilliantly is that it never let's you forget what it's all about, by repeatedly saying 'Technologic' at the end of each verse of verbs. Incredible wordplay I think we can all agree.

To this day I don't full understand what the exact item is that they are describing, but what I can say is it sounds like a phenomenal peice of kit to be able to perform such a vast range a of actions, and I would 100% like to buy it.
