Defintely i'll stick with Michael Jordan till the end of my days.

Where to start...the man, the legendary basketball player, this guy is the hero of millions of us due to his exceptional talent, determination, and inspirational spirit. His unmatched athleticism and ability to elevate his game in clutch moments have solidified his status as one of the greatest athletes of all time, when he retired was painfull for a lot of fans, everybody needs someone to follow and admire... for me, i havent found a replacement for this exceptional human.

Without question. I remember doing a school project on him in third grade. I didn't even know anything about Basketball really, but I knew Michael Jordan. Diving not just into his accomplishments but also his history was inspirational for my younger self.

I'm going to take what I suspect is a different direction and talk about someone who's not just currently playing, but relatively early on in their career.

This is Georgi Minoungou, a midfielder for the Seattle Sounders. He's an Ivory Coast native who was playing for a professional Czech team until the start of 2023, when the Sounder's brought him in to play on their reserve team based in Tacoma, and after a single season they opted to call him up to the main team.

Unfortunately, after spending some time during the preseason in Spain, Minoungou noticed some swelling in one of his eyes and wound up needing a critical medical procedure. It was discovered that he'd lost nearly all of his vision in the affected eye, but he didn't give up on playing. He was sent back to Tacoma while he recovered and to get his feet back under him, but late in the season (just over a month ago, in fact) he was called up again, and he's proved on the national stage that even with only one good eye he can keep up with the best in MLS.

Despite his setback, Minoungou is fast, aggressive, and knows how to put the ball in the back of the net when he can't get it to one of the team's strikers. He may never be a household name like Jordan or Gretzky, since soccer is less popular here in the states, but I look forward to seeing just how high he can climb.
