In what may be the biggest understatement so far this century, quantum computing is a complicated subject. Wikipedia describes it as "a computer that takes advantage of quantum mechanical phenomena" but the long and short of it is that theoretical quantum computers can solve problems with lots of possible answers much quicker than normal computers, because it can be in multiple states simultaneously (compared to binary, which is either 1 or 0, quantum computers can be 1 and 0).
Are you following? Don't worry, we're not expecting you to know the ins and outs, but what we do want is to hear your predictions about how quantum computing could affect the world in the future. Eight of the most thorough submissions will net $3 apiece!
