I humbly suggest Pleione system, within the Pleiades Nebula.
I visited it very early on in my Elite days and was blown away. It has a bit of everything for a budding CMDR, bright eyed and looking for experiences. And yet, even as a CMDR who's been across the Galaxy, I still pilgrimage here and remember the early days. Pleione's offerings:

  • It's beautiful

  • It's close to the Bubble (~400LY from Sol)

  • The Squirrel Bar is an installation you can practice your flight around and has many cool 'scannables', some are quite amusing!

  • Stargazer is a rare 'Asteroid base' category starport

  • Thargoids are resident within Pleione, but are pretty passive, excellent for CMDRs first anti-Xeno moments.

My main enjoyment of late is the Thargoid War, hooning, and teaching other players passionate about the game. I love showing the finer points that separate CMDRs from the boys, be it flight, ship build theory, or BGS.

My greatest achievement is trivial in a financial sense (for an experienced CMDR), but for me a very personal one. When my father passed (who loved astromony, stargazing with his telescope, and watching me play Elite), I dedicated my Fleet Carrier to him, and spent some time creating a Fleet Carrier badge to match:

For me the iCourier is incredibly underrated. She's a versatile powerhouse - 45LY jump range, easy 800m/s boost speed (if you can't dock her in 10-12 seconds you're flying her wrong), very agile.
I use her for pretty much everything BGS - scans, courier (duh) missions, destroy power (planetary and megaship), quick turnarounds for ground CZs. And at 45LY, she's a great Bubble runabout.

I've been to many areas of the Elite Galaxy, from Colonia, to Formidine and Elysian Shore, and out to The Veils. But the awe and uplift I get from being at Mitterland Hollow, there is no other. It's a well known site now, and take care landing on New Africa's moon, but I always end up returning. Make sure you CMDRs visit.
(Not wanting to spoil anything for 1st time visitors, but this video is shot in real time, no adjustment!)
