Simple Masters Guide to Izanami - ADC Best Role

This is a quick and easy guide to playing Izanami at a high level. Izanami is a simple God and great for new players.

Strengths

  1. Izanami has hybrid scaling which means she benefits from all meta items (see below).

  2. Izanami has fantastic wave clear and can farm efficiently.

  3. Izanami has very high base damage and penetration.

  4. Her dash is technically a jump, so you can traverse over (under) walls.

Weaknesses

  1. Doesn't have any hard cc (crowd control) in her kit (stun, knockup etc.)

  2. She also has no cc immunity (protection from cc)

  3. Feast or Famine playstyle. Izanami is considerably stronger as her health decreases, which is when you're at your most vulnerable

Skill Explanation (See Image Below)

Passive – Death Draws Nigh

Izanami gains Physical Penetration and Intelligence for each 1% of her Max Health taken as damage. Each stack fades 10 seconds after the damage was taken, and the stack count cannot drop below the percentage of her current missing health.

Basic Attack

She throws a piercing projectile that deals Physical Damage to all enemies hit. The projectile returns after reaching its max range or hitting a wall, dealing additional Physical Damage to enemies on its way back. Item effects trigger only on the first target hit per attack. Projectile speed increases with higher Attack Speed, up to a maximum of a 45% increase at 2.0 Attack Speed.

Ability 1 – Sickle Storm

Izanami significantly increases her Attack Speed for 6 seconds. During this time, her Basic Attacks deal additional Physical Damage but no longer pierce enemies or return to her. These attacks also deal bonus damage to structures and apply a stacking Bleed effect to enemies hit. The Bleed damage is multiplied with each stack and ticks every 0.5 seconds. Sickle Storm can be activated without breaking Stealth from Fade Away and can be cancelled early to end its effects.

Ability 2 – Spectral Projection

Izanami sends forth a spectral projection of herself, dealing Physical Damage and slowing all enemies in a line. This ability passes through enemies and walls and can be cast without breaking Stealth from Fade Away.

Ability 3 – Fade Away

Izanami descends into the underworld, becoming Stealthed, and leaps away from her current position. While in Stealth, she gains increased Movement Speed. Sickle Storm and Spectral Projection can be used without breaking Stealth.

Ultimate – Dark Portal

Izanami summons a dark portal at a target location, dealing instant Physical Damage and additional Physical Damage over time. Damaged enemies are also Silenced and Slowed. The Slow and Damage over time effects start strong and fade away over 2 seconds. The Slow is not affected by diminishing returns.

Skills

Order: 2>3>1>2>4

Max: 2>4>1>3

Combo: 2>auto>4>auto>1>auto + use 3 to dodge or reposition.

Burst : 1>2+4>auto.

Item Build

In the current meta you don't need much else. Although you can potentially flex one lifesteal item (Bloodforge) for Odysseus Bow.

Final Thoughts

Prioritise Farm over anything else, you shouldn't look to fight before 5 if you can avoid it.

You're at your strongest at 50% HP.

Use your 3 to "juke" ganks by turning invisible and changing direction.

Alternatively you can cast your 1 and 2 while maintaining invisibility, (but not auto attack) allowing you to setup an attack on an unsuspecting enemy!

Khepri Master Support Guide- Best Role

1. Laning Phase:

  • Role in Lane: your primary job in the lane is to protect your carry. Spam Rising Dawn on the wave hitting your teammate to buff them.

  • Positioning: Play near your ADC and be ready to use your abilities to peel for them if the enemy aggresses. Use Abduct to pull enemies out of position or interrupt their attacks.

  • Hold Abduct and Solar Flare: Only use these abilities aggressively if you're sure you can win the trade.

  • Body Block: You're a big god, use your size to your advantage by blocking the enemy ADC basic attacks, but be careful not to take too much damage!

2. Mid-Game (Objective Control and Team Fights):

  • Engage with Abduct: Khepri is a great initiator in the mid game. Use Abduct to pull key enemy gods into your team, especially damage dealers or squishier targets. This can set up easy kills.

  • Solar Flare for Ranged Root: You can consistently throw this out to setup poke opportunities for your team, just don't go out of mana!

  • Stay Close to Allies: Position yourself to peel your team during fights. Always keep an eye on your teammates' health and make sure you're near them. If you're the only tank/engage on your team, something has gone wrong in the draft.

  • Utilise Scarab’s Blessing: Use Scarab’s Blessing to keep your squishy teammates alive or to save a crucial member of your team from death. The key is timing—make sure you use it just before your ally is about to die. Remember it also cleanses CC and buffs your ally for a significant stat increase. Too many bad Khepri players only use this ability to try and revive, it can be used aggressively also.

3. Late-Game (Team Fights and Objective Contests):

  • Peel with Abduct: In the late game, Abduct should be used with caution. The enemy will be doing considerably more damage, most times it's better to use this for peel. If you can get a good abduct then take the opportunity, but ALWAYS check you have a damage dealer nearby or it's pointless.

  • Focus on Scarab’s Blessing: Your Scarab’s Blessing will be crucial in late-game team fights. Use it to ensure your carries stay alive, especially if the enemy is targeting your backline. Timing this correctly can turn the tide of a team fight. Don't waste it on poke.

  • Solar Flare for Disruption: Use Solar Flare to disable key enemy players in the middle of fights. This can stop enemies from escaping or engaging, securing kills for your team.

Item Build

You have to be flexible in your item choices and always adapt to counter the enemy composition. Work out what items you'll need in the loading screen!

E.g. Do I sacrifice a utility item for my team and get a "Helm of Darkness" for myself so I can go invisible and attack their backline?

Final Thoughts

Good Peel is greater than Poor Engage in most scenarios. If you are struggling to engage in any match, always default to helping your own teammates.

Nemesis Master Guide- Jungle (Best Role)

Overview of Nemesis' Abilities

Passive

  • Try to consistently land basic attacks on enemies to weaken them while simultaneously empowering Nemesis.

  • Target high-damage enemies to reduce their output and make yourself more potent.

1st Ability - Swift Vengeance

  • Engage or disengage with the first dash, then use the second dash to either chase down enemies or escape.

  • After using the first dash, basic attacks or other abilities can be used between the dashes.

  • It's also effective for jumping over obstacles and quickly positioning yourself in or out of the fight.

2nd Ability - Slice and Dice

  • Position yourself carefully to hit enemies in the center of the cone for maximum damage. This requires good spacing and timing in team fights or skirmishes.

  • Use it when you’re in the thick of a fight to burst damage and apply crowd control with the slow.

3rd Ability - Retribution

  • Use Retribution when you are about to take heavy damage, especially in 1v1 engagements or when diving into the enemy backline.

  • The shield can reflect significant damage, especially if enemies focus you during its duration.

  • The healing component makes you much harder to kill while keeping you in the fight longer.

Ultimate - Divine Judgement

  • Use Divine Judgement on high-health enemies or tanky gods to cripple their defenses and turn their Protections against them.

  • This ultimate is excellent for executing squishy enemies in late-game team fights.

  • Be sure to use it on priority targets, as it can also boost your own survivability through the Protection and Movement Speed steal.

Aspect of Justice

I recommend using her Aspect most games, you can toggle this on or off once you've locked in Nemesis.

Key Tips for Maximizing Hydra’s Lament Combo on Nemesis

  • Timing: Hydra’s passive applies bonus damage on the next basic attack, so always combo your abilities with basic attacks in quick succession. The faster you do this, the more effective Hydra's passive will be.

  • Positioning: Ensure you’re in range to land a basic attack immediately after using abilities like Swift Vengeance and Slice and Dice. This is critical for triggering Hydra’s passive.

  • Utilize Retribution: While Retribution provides defensive utility, its damage reflection also allows you to survive longer in fights while dishing out bonus damage with Hydra’s passive.

Final Thoughts

Prioritise flanking and killing carries. If you have to fight a tank or front liner open with your ult, unless you have the aspect then you want to use it for hp steal on a high health target.

Smite 2 Review: A Fantastic Evolution That Needs Refinement

Smite 2 builds upon the strong foundation of its predecessor, offering a fresh and engaging experience for fans of the franchise and newcomers alike. The game takes Smite's unique third-person MOBA formula to the next level, with enhanced visuals, deeper mechanics, and revamped systems. However, to truly compete with genre titans like Dota 2 and League of Legends, Smite 2 must address some key areas, particularly its UI design, modern features, and overall polish.

What Smite 2 Gets Right

  1. Third-Person Perspective PvP
Smite 2 remains the only major MOBA that offers a third-person perspective, and it definitely excels here. The sense of immersion and immediacy during battles is unmatched, making the player feel like they’re truly embodying gods and mythological figures. This is a core strength that sets the game apart from its competitors and my personal favourite.

  2. God Designs and Themes
The roster of gods in Smite 2 is better than ever. Each deity feels unique, with abilities that cleverly tie into their mythology while remaining balanced and fun to play. The new gods introduced in Smite 2 come with innovative mechanics, pushing creativity and keeping the roster fresh.

  3. Visually Stunning
The game’s graphical overhaul is breathtaking. Maps are detailed, animations are smoother, and spell effects are vibrant without being overwhelming. This visual upgrade makes matches feel dynamic and modern, appealing to both hardcore fans and new players.

  4. Improved Gameplay Mechanics
Smite 2 enhances its gameplay with tighter controls, improved hit detection, and more engaging itemization. These improvements make battles feel fluid, rewarding skill and strategy.

  5. Community Engagement
Hi-Rez Studios continues to engage with its community, listening to feedback and implementing changes.

Edit: Hi-rez have announced that they will be releasing a new god every week!

Where Smite 2 Needs Work

  1. User Interface (UI) Overhaul
The UI is functional but feels outdated compared to competitors. Menus can be clunky, and information isn’t always presented clearly. For example:

    • The in-game HUD needs better customization options to let players tailor the experience.

    • Stat tracking and post-match analysis lack depth, leaving players wanting more clarity on their performance.

    • Navigating the god selection screen can feel overwhelming and unintuitive for new players.

  2. Modern Features for a Competitive Edge
To compete with League of Legends and Dota 2, Smite 2 needs modernized systems, such as:

    • Enhanced Spectator Tools: Essential for growing its eSports scene. Features like multi-camera views, better replays, and detailed overlays would elevate Smite 2’s competitive presence.

    • Tutorial Improvements: The current tutorials do a decent job of teaching the basics, but they lack depth. A rewarding and robust onboarding process would help incentivize new players and help them feel less intimidated.

    • Social and Community Features: Social systems feel dated or non-existent.
Streamlining these would greatly improve the game.

  3. Balancing and Meta Refinement
While Smite 2 introduces exciting new gods and items, the balance feels inconsistent at times. Certain gods or items can feel overpowered, creating frustration for players.

  4. Matchmaking and Ranked Play
Matchmaking is another area that needs refinement.
Currently there are frequent mismatches in skill levels, which can be discouraging. Ranked play also needs clearer progression systems and rewards.

How Smite 2 Can Compete with Dota 2 and League of Legends

To truly rival Dota 2 and League of Legends, Smite 2 must modernize. Key areas include:

  • Streamlined UI and UX: Intuitive menus, better HUD customization, and clear post-match stats.

  • Advanced Competitive Features: Improved matchmaking, enhanced spectator tools, and integrated eSports support e.g. watch games live in client.

  • Improved Tutorials: Better onboarding for new players with step-by-step tutorials, practice modes, and tips for each god which can be accessed while in queue.

  • Play to it's Strengths: Smite 2 is a fantastic evolution of an already beloved game. Its unique perspective, mythological themes, and immersive gameplay set it apart in the MOBA genre.

If Hi-Rez Studios commits to addressing the issues outlined above and takes influence from market leaders then Smite 2 has the potential to carve out a larger slice of the MOBA market.

Old Score: 7/10
Great potential, but needs polish to truly shine.

New Score: 8/10

Same issues outlined above, however I have to award an extra point for their commitment to releasing new content every week in beta!

  1. Passive – Blessing of the Nile

  • Effect: Hitting enemies with abilities grants Sobek stacks of protections.

  • How to Use:

    • Stay in the thick of combat to consistently proc your passive and maintain maximum protection stacks.

    • Use your abilities frequently in fights to build survivability as a frontline tank.

  1. 1st Ability – Charge Prey

    • Effect: Sobek dashes forward, grabbing and throwing the first enemy hit behind him, briefly stunning them.

    • How to Use:

      • Engage: Use Charge Prey to initiate fights, isolating key targets (like enemy carries) and displacing them into your team.

      • Peel: Throw enemies away from your vulnerable teammates, such as squishy mages or ADCs.

      • Avoid overextending when using this ability, as it can leave you vulnerable if your team isn’t ready to follow up.

  2. 2nd Ability – Tail Whip

    • Effect: Sobek sweeps his tail in an area, dealing damage and knocking enemies back.

    • How to Use:

      • Control: Use it to knock enemies away from objectives, disrupt their positioning, or peel for your allies.

      • Follow-Up: Pair it with Charge Prey to extend your disruption after isolating an enemy.

      • Zone Control: Use in tight spaces to prevent enemies from advancing toward key areas.

  3. 3rd Ability – Sickening Strike

    • Effect: Sobek strikes in a cone, damaging enemies, healing himself, and applying healing reduction for 5 seconds. Hitting gods reduces the cooldown by up to 4 seconds.

    • How to Use:

      • Sustain: Use Sickening Strike during fights to heal yourself, especially when facing multiple enemies.

      • Anti-Heal: Target enemies with high healing potential (like Aphrodite or Hercules) to reduce their sustain.

      • Cooldown Reduction: Position to hit as many enemies as possible, especially gods, to maximize the cooldown reduction.

  4. Ultimate – Lurking in the Waters

    • Effect: Sobek submerges into water, slowing enemies, gaining protections, regenerating mana and allowing him to pass through enemies and spawned walls while submerged. He erupts after a delay, dealing heavy damage and executing enemies below a health threshold. Executed or killed enemies heal Sobek and grant him bonus health.

    • How to Use:

      • Engage: Use it to dive into the enemy team, slowing and zoning them while absorbing damage.

      • Execute: Time the eruption to finish off low-health enemies, swinging fights in your favor.

      • Zone Control: Use the ability to block off escape routes or keep enemies away from objectives.

      • Cancel the ability early if enemies try to escape the eruption radius and reposition for a follow-up.

Playstyle Tips

Early Game

  • Focus on controlling the lane and peeling for your ADC.

  • Use Charge Prey to set up kills and displace aggressive enemies.

  • Use Sickening Strike on the side of the wave to help clear

Mid Game

  • Rotate to mid-lane and jungle to assist teammates in fights and objective control.

  • Use Tail Whip and Charge Prey to disrupt enemy positioning and set up kills

  • Position yourself as a frontline tank, absorbing damage while maintaining passive stacks for protection.

Late Game

  • Prioritize protecting your carries by peeling with Tail Whip and Charge Prey. If you can pluck an enemy then do so with caution.

  • Use Lurking in the Waters strategically to zone enemies, secure kills, or disrupt objective contests.

  • Time the execute on your ultimate carefully to maximize its impact, healing you and granting bonus health.

Combos

Note: Try to always combo these with a blink.

  1. Basic Engage Combo:
    1 → 2 → 3

    • Charge Prey to throw an enemy into your team, follow with Tail Whip for additional crowd control, then use Sickening Strike for damage and sustain.

  2. Teamfight Disruption Combo:
    2 → 3 → 4 or 1

    • Start with Tail Whip to knock enemies away, follow with Sickening Strike to reduce healing and sustain yourself, then dive in with Lurking in the Waters to slow and zone enemies.

Item Build - Meta Options

You have to be flexible in your item choices and always adapt to counter the enemy composition. Work out what items you'll need in the loading screen!

E.g. Do I sacrifice a utility item for my team and get a "Helm of Darkness" for myself so I can go invisible and attack their backline?

Final Thoughts

Good Peel is greater than Poor Engage in most scenarios. If you are struggling to engage in any match, always default to helping your own teammates. Sobek has brilliant disruption and can execute a target below 25% hp!
