The Award: Most Captivating Loading Screen in a Video Game.

For this award, my technology skills will have earned me the award for implementing funny bloopers a la Toy Story 2, where the in-game characters act as though they are real actors. In this case a king fu game, where you get to see the stunt men and women, along the actors, forget their lines, mistime their moves and completely get things wrong.

In each load screen a different bloopers reel will be played. Load times for games are generally very short now due to SSDs etc but the studio elongated the load screens to ensure maximum amusement in this case.

My speech will revolve around thanking my family and loved ones, the rest of the fantastic creative team at the studio. I would also make a shout out to any school aged children looking to chase their dream in video game design, and show them how I had been rewarded for all of my procrastinating and laziness in school.

And of course, let's not forget a plea for world peace!

I've chosen 3 books, all of which very different but highlight my sense of humour and preferences.

James Acaster: Classic Scrapes.

James is a hilarious comedian with a very dry sense of humour. This book is a brilliant read-relatable life anecdotes but also quite off the wall and cook, which helps make the mundane funny. A brilliant read for comedy fans!

Triple Cross by James Patterson

I could choose any number of the Alex Cross books but this one I read quite recently and loved. In true James Patterson style, it's high octane, fun, and keeps you on the edge of your reading chair throughout. Patterson is the best when it comes to cat and mouse detective capers.

My Sister The Serial Killer by Oyinkqn Braithwaite

A dark, twisted comedy story about a nurse and her sister, who just so happens to be a serial killer and the family favourite child. A comedic and brilliantly written debut story, guaranteed laughs despite some of the twisted subject matters. I don't want to say too much about the plot on this one and it's best read without reading any synopsis/blurb. Just pick it up and enjoy!

A fun little nod in The US Office. John Krasinski signs his actual name on Meredith's cast, not his character name, Jim Halpert.

Breaking the 4th wall a little more than the usual documentary style glances at the camera!

Saw this pop up here on JA and thoughr I'd give it a whirl!

It's rare these days to get games where you can play at your own pace without a timer or need for urgency to reach the next mission marker.

Critter cafe is a pleasant change of pace and it's nice to have a game that's released wlin a good state. I haven't encountered any bugs or issues at all yet.

It's got lovely bright visuals with a comforting art style, certainly making itself open to a wide audience.

My only concern is that maybe the lack of any urgency required to achieve a goal etc may hinder the overall excitement in the long term but I'll be more than happy to drop in and out of this as time goes on!

The Farming Simulator games have a massed more than 25million sold on consoles, but it's on mobile where it has really exploded, with over 90 millions purchases.

A perfect way to spend those long, dull commutes!

My wife asks me some interesting questions about most simulators (powerwash simulator in particular), but this one, she really struggles to understand how harvesting crops in a tractor that's doing about 1mph is enjoyable and remotely fun. She just doesn't understand the satisfaction of those perfectly harvested fields!

My work systems all revolve around Microsoft Edge which I detest-maybe because the only exposure I have with it is doing work and the intranet we have isn't always reliable, which can add to the frustrations!

I personally quite like Firefox. It seemed to die out a bit over the past decade (IMO anyway) but is now very user friendly with a responsive browser and easy to manage tabs.

Chrome is my default browser but I wouldn't be too annoyed if I was told I had to use Firefox only moving forward!

This year's iteration is a definite improvement over previous entries in the series.

The improvement in tech and hardware power is quite clear to see in the graphical update the game has had- a much needed face-lift to help keep the game relevant and appealing to loyalists and newcomers alike.

The team have put a lot of work into creating a truly immersive and deep farming sim and I think the more time you put into this, the more you feel rewarded for your efforts. It's a massive game with the addition of new features and not necessarily an easy game to start out in but thankfully tutorials are definitely doing a good job of showing you the ropes!

Been a while since I've played one of these, simply because of the amount of hours they suck you in for! Looking forward to continuing my agricultural journey!
