as an IT tech for a school district, I'm having to work on Windows PCs all the time. And with Windows 11 and some of their frustrating UI changes, I've started doing more and more in the command line for things.

However, sometimes when you open the cmd line, it just opens to a user-level prompt. I need to use the admin-level prompt way more often.

So after you FLAG-R to open the Run line and type cmd, press CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER to have it open with admin permissions instead of user. You'll usually get the UAC box pop up, but at least it's faster than dealing with the steadily worse "start" menu. Don't even need the mouse (even accepting the UAC is only a couple tabs and enter)

For a single player item, I've been kinda looking forward to ATOMFALL. It might just end up being Fallout in Britain, but I enjoyed Fallout 4 so seeing a similar take outside of the US should be a bit f fun. (I know about the London mod but haven't gotten around to that either) and it coming to Gamepass will make it a lot easier to go for it :)

For co-op, I really want to give SPLIT FICTION a try with my daughter. We had a fun time with It Takes Two and the idea of jumping between medieval and sci-fi settings looks pretty interesting.

It also claimed that March was my "Nerdy Fantasy Sci-Fi" phase. I've been like that since at least 1982, ain't no phase about it.

My most recent one ... my brand new PC, only about 4 months old and finally at a point where I have everything installed, set, where I want it and happy ....

.... and the primary 2 TB SSD with the OS on it just drops dead.

Booted perfectly fine the day before. Wake up, move over to my desk to power on to watch YT or something during breakfast ... OS missing. Like, what?

Go into the BIOS and the SATA drive was just gone.

And I hadn't run my file backup in a couple months. I was going to do it the upcoming weekend. :|

I think lately for tech related stuff, it might be Action Retro. He always seems to have something 'new' to show and always doing weird cursed upgrades for things that probably shouldnt be LOL

Lemme see if I can find the one I just watched ... hes upgraded this weird ass SE/30 like 50 times now and I still want to see what's next.

The next thing I plan to get is the PC Adapter for the PSVR2. I am tired of fighting the software Meta continues to screw up for linking my Quest, so I'm really hoping the PSVR2 adapter can do the job to replace it as my PC headset. (and also I can wear my glasses with the PSVR2, I can't with the Quest). Only a couple more weeks and we'll see how well it works.

I really hope it works. And cools down enough to actually USE it.

It probably didnt help that I worked there at the same time but to this freaking day if someone uses the word 'supreme' around me, this immediately jumped back out of my failing memory to consume me for at least the rest of the day. And now, I'm probably gonna dream this song now too.

(hopefully replacement video stays online long enough...)

And remember when prices were that low too? I really miss the 59/79/99 specials, load up and feed a mess of people.

I'm going towards one of my funnier ones. I couldn't believe this actually worked when I realized where this guy was hiding.

I guess the first time it wasn't technically the actual internet as we know it. The first time I had access to a piece of it was an email service hosted on my local town's BBS. I would dial in on my blazing fast 33.6k modem (i couldn't afford a 56k yet) and go to the mail module the Sysop installed to be able to create the message and the service would queue it up to be sent that night when people weren't calling in to keep the line busy so all the day's messages could be sent.

It was probably 3 or 4 years later when I actually signed up for my first legit ISP and was able to connect via my new 1.5Mbps DSL and Netscape the night away!

I can't imagine trying to use the bloated web of today on the connectivity we had back then. I'd bet the ads would still load fine but nothing else would! LOL

Resident Evil and Pokemon

so 1. Jill is trapped and left to explore a creepy mansion, solving puzzles in order to try to escape the horror and has to stop to catch all the Pokemon hunting her in all the locations. Pokeballs are the same rarity as ammo, so she can't just catch everything or she'll run out before getting to the boss at the end. But she can use the caught Pokemon to help her fight.

or 2. Your chosen 12-year-old child is told to leave home with the goal of becoming the region's new champion. They are issued 2 healing herbs, a pistol and 1 box of ammo. The rest of what they need they'll have to find on the way. As soon as they hit the beautiful sunny road in Route 1, they already see two zombies shambling towards them. Good luck, honey!
