Award category: Best Narrative Design.

“Good evening! I still can't believe what's happening, I'm living in a dream! Creating this game was more than telling a story, it was immersing myself in a world, each character and each piece of lore interacting with each other, I believe it's the creation of my life, I hope you love playing it in the same way I loved crafting its story.

I can't forget to mention my excellent team, all those who knew how to stop me when I was convinced that a bad idea was a good one haha, this trophy too, belongs to each and every one of you.

To the players, I can only say thank you, the game is as much yours as it is ours, your theories and ideas simply go beyond the imaginable, allowing even us to be surprised by something we thought no one would notice! I thank you all, I hope our next games can live up to your expectations and keep me on this stage again. Thank you!”

F

Thank you. I don't think you know how much this means to me. For years we've wanted to create a game that embodies what we believe as a company to be the right way about making games. We want to make games that people want to play. Graphics are nice sure, having visuals always gets headlines, but we made a story. We made you care. We gave you characters you felt attached to. With every step and every quest completed you felt like the culmination of this journey was one step closer and then... tragedy. Something gets in the way, the hardship, the growth, the desire to push beyond the struggles and find a way to complete your goals. You built friendships inside and out and even found a community of lifelong seekers of similar values.

For us, it's not just about (ha see what I did there) providing the gamers with a game. We wanted to give you all a world. A place that felt alive and breathing and when you slept at night you dreamed of coming back. We wanted to build a game that when you logged off for the last time, it was tears of joy. People remembered your name and what you contributed to the world. That is why we built this game. For you...

Thank you again for GOTY, and we hope it'll be around for many years to come.

AWARD: Game of the Year
Role: Lead Developer/Game Design

L

Award: Best script.

Speech: Dear colleagues, fellow community: thank you to the jury and every person involved in this decision. We were pushed to change our vision; the idea of our game was considered "too risky" for the industry, a lot of people told us that the game was a failure, that we will not cover expenses and the studio will be closed, but we decided to bet for creativity, for hardwork, for consider that our games are smart, that they don't need to be taken by the hand with dozens of icons on the screen. And here we are, after a huge success in sales and reviews, but specially with the love of our gamers.

Keep doing things differently!! Thank you! And I love you, mom!

In my case it would be for the "Best Art Direction" category.

I want to start by saying that I am completely surprised and honored to receive this award in the best art direction category! I want to thank the entire team that worked tirelessly to make this game possible for your dedication, passion, creativity and never giving up, thanks to all of you who have made this game so special and possible.

I also want to thank our fans, who have been incredibly empathetic, who always supported us from the moment we announced our project until we finished it! Their energy and enthusiasm have been a source of inspiration for us to not give up and continue to do our best. And of course, I want to thank the organizers of The Game Awards for this recognition. Thank you all very much again, have a good night and good luck to all our colleagues tonight.

Award category: Best independent video game (INDIE).

“Wow... I really couldn't imagine that this would be happening someday. As you all know, I'm the creator and sole developer of this game, and it was a great challenge to be able to make this dream a reality, even overcoming prejudice, since many people didn't believe that a single Brazilian dev could make it this far. I'd first like to thank those who allowed me to be here, the fans and thousands of players, without you I wouldn't be living this dream, your feedback every week on ours allowed me to shape the game and allow my dream to also have a bit of each of you. Finally, I ask you to look at countries other than the big centers, just as I am winning here today, other young people in Colombia, Brazil or Kazakhstan dream of having their dream of producing a game embraced by the population. This award belongs to all of us, thank you!”

Award for "Game Of The Year(GOTY"

My Speech:

First and foremost, I want to say that nothing is impossible in life. Everything you set your mind to can be achieved if you truly make it a goal to accomplish. What I have just achieved is not only a reward for myself but a reward for the constant effort I have put in, investing time and foregoing short-term pleasures, solely to achieve this goal, which is the first but not the last. I hope you continue to trust in the process and are satisfied with what I am offering.

As I love indie platform games (Ori, Hollow Knight, Blasphemous), I would certainly win an award for this style of game (Best Indie Game), so my speech would go like this:

“ "Quietly". "Holding back the tears a little". I don't know what to say... It's like realizing a childhood dream! I think there are few things as rewarding as having your hard work recognized, praised and acclaimed worldwide. I don't have enough voice or emotion to show how grateful I am to all of you who have helped me get here. The community, the reviewers and especially my two, more than co-workers, friends Daniel and Phillip who helped me create something we can be proud of! To Daniel who demonstrated such quality in the game's audio, both in the production of the soundtracks and in the sound mixing. To Phillip who was able to transform the art doodles drawn into complete masterpieces. To the whole team for going above and beyond to turn so many codes and drawings into an exciting game!

Thank you to everyone who has been by my side, we'll keep working to bring news to what has already worked so well and we'll certainly keep working hard to maintain the quality with possible future releases! My eternal gratitude!!!”

Winning for Best Action-Adventure Game: Black Myth: Wukong

My speech:

"Good evening, everyone.

I am deeply honored to stand here today, receiving this incredible recognition for Black Myth: Wukong. This game has been a labor of love, an emotional and technical journey that has pushed all of us to new limits. On behalf of the entire team, I want to express my gratitude to the amazing people who worked tirelessly behind the scenes—designers, developers, artists, and musicians—who have poured their hearts and souls into this project.

Creating Black Myth: Wukong was not just about making a game; it was about bringing an iconic story from Chinese mythology to life in a way that would resonate with players worldwide. We wanted to offer an unforgettable action-adventure experience, combining breathtaking visuals, challenging combat, and a rich, emotionally driven narrative.

There were moments when the road ahead seemed impossible. We were determined to craft something unique, something that would push the boundaries of what an action game could be, and I couldn’t be prouder of the results. Our team, with its passion and creativity, has done an outstanding job in making this vision come to life.

I want to thank the fans who have supported us from the very beginning. Your enthusiasm, feedback, and trust have been invaluable. You gave us the strength to keep going, and this award is as much yours as it is ours.

To my family, friends, and everyone who has stood by me—your support means everything to me. And to the Black Myth: Wukong team, thank you for your dedication and belief in this project. This is just the beginning, and we are so excited for what lies ahead.

Thank you, everyone, for this incredible honor. We will continue to push the boundaries, innovate, and deliver experiences that challenge and inspire you. This award is a testament to what happens when passionate people come together to create something extraordinary. Thank you!"

An Indie Developer's Speech at The Game Awards

I study game development and I already have an indie game published. So, I imagine myself winning in the Best Indie Game category, as an indie game developer, being responsible for creating the narrative, lighting, and atmosphere (the other components will be acquired through online asset stores).

  • What are you winning? - Best Independent (INDIE) Video Game.

My speech:

"Good morning/Good afternoon/Good evening, everyone.

It is with great joy that I receive this award, which is a recognition of all the time invested, the hard work, and the overcoming of the fear of failure. I feel extremely honored to have created a game that has entertained so many people and contributed to the growth of the video game industry. After all, beyond being a developer, I am passionate about games, and being able to contribute to this industry that I love so much is a true privilege.

I want to thank God, my family, and my friends for their unconditional support and the motivational words I so needed to hear, especially in the moments when I lost faith in my own idea. They believed in my potential more than I did myself, and I am deeply grateful for that.

I would also like to thank everyone who gave my game a chance, played it, and helped spread the word. You turned my dream into reality, and it is to you that I owe this award.

Finally, I commit to continuing my dedication to game development, always seeking new knowledge and striving even harder to create experiences that meet your expectations. The road is tough, especially for independent developers, and that is why I ask for everyone's support for other indie developers. Creating games is an art, and it is an art I deeply love.

Thank you very much!"

now, for the 'Sci-Fi Comedy of the Year' award, it goes to a spectacular animation based on a great and famous video game, Elite Dangerous. And the award goes to... Elite Perigosa!

(applause and more applause)

Imagine me walking nervously and shyly onto the stage, but with a smile and a look of gratitude on my face. I take the award in my hands (I think that's how awards work), and say:

"I just want to thank everyone who's here today, and everyone who's watched my videos and supported me. In the beginning, it was just a fun little project for an online community—making short videos with funny lines based on the game Elite Dangerous. Honestly, besides being my favorite game, it's a game where you can do pretty much anything, so I didn't want to miss the chance to create something different. But then I realized that a lot of people really enjoyed my videos, and... well, that's what I loved doing. I had no investment, no knowledge of editing platforms, and most importantly, I didn’t even know how to write in English. I had to learn everything on my own and just keep going. Over time, I noticed that the more videos I made, the more people started joining my channel. And all of that happened because of the audience that watched my videos. I’ll be forever grateful to everyone who supported me. There were times when I thought no one would watch, and that I was just wasting my time... but today, I understand the meaning of the phrase 'never give up on your dreams.'So, today, I want to take a moment to say to everyone watching: Never give up on what you love doing, just because you're afraid it might go wrong. Just try, give it your best, and watch it happen. Thank you, everyone!"

(I walk off the stage, waving goodbye to the audience as they applaud, and shortly after, the presenter moves on to announce the next nominee in another category)

Best Narrative

Given my current work experience, I think my main role in the development of a videogame would be as a Senior Designer in the narrative department.

As I am currently most passionate about open world games, this will be the theme of the game in question. I consider that my contribution would mainly consist of receiving and connecting each development subgroup of the different areas of the game with the narrative part, in order to give cohesion to the whole.

I think a good speech could be this one:

"Although I am here collecting this award as the visible head of the narrative team, all those who in some way have contributed to this work in the different areas, such as the conceptual part, development, graphics and sound, are here with me now.

The development of a videogame, from its conceptualisation to the day it is launched to the market, needs all the parties involved to form a single entity; with many members, no doubt, but only one head. If we have won this award for narrative today, it is because the rest of the game is at a high level.

Because our game is an open-world RPG, our branching, non-linear narrative has been a complex task; a script with a lot of content, thousands of lines of dialogue, a lot of trial and error to combine the dozens of narrative possibilities, endless evenings of testing to check the chronological and narrative coherence of all the playable possibilities. This, as you can understand, is the work of many, and all of them deserve this award for their dedication and passion.

The same passion and dedication of those who love, support, and put up with us; family, friends, fans, press and of course, those who have not felt completely caught by our work, because they also show us our weaknesses and discover ways to continue improving constantly.

Thanks to everyone who has made this award possible. With your help, we will carry on with our passion."

Award for "Creator who doesnt know when to quit"

I have been gaming since I could hold a controller. Im now a old man with 3 kids and a gaming problem. I started content creation because I thought itd be cool to do something I love for a living and I did it to make new friends who share similar interests. For years Ive been trying to make it. Ive been improving myself and dealing with the struggles of failure in many attempts. Ive been told to quit, ive been told Ill never make it, and that Im too old and too bad at the mainstream games to ever make it. I havent given up for many reasons but the the main one is that I have 3 daughters who see me pushing for my dream and i keep encouraging them to push for their dreams too. If i quit then theyll just see their father giving up. I dont want that. Maybe someday Ill have to quit because of good reason but until then, im here to stay

So thank you to all those who support my content and cheered me on. And thank you to my kids for giving me the strength to keep going

In the imagined scenario I am winning a game award for The Best Art Direction. My contribution would have been the designer and artist of the art in the game. It would be graphics similar to the game Don't Starve, and I would have been the one drawing all that artwork.

Here's my speech:

"It is an incredible honor to receive such a game award, as there are so many talented artists creating beautiful work for their games. I am so grateful to everyone for nominating me, and to everyone who have enjoyed our game. I have put a lot of passion and effort into creating my art, as well as working with a wonderful team who were great at incorporating my art in a way that fit my vision. They really helped let my art shine the way I wanted to in this game. Thank you all who believed in me, and please continue enjoying the game!"

The Award: Most Captivating Loading Screen in a Video Game.

For this award, my technology skills will have earned me the award for implementing funny bloopers a la Toy Story 2, where the in-game characters act as though they are real actors. In this case a king fu game, where you get to see the stunt men and women, along the actors, forget their lines, mistime their moves and completely get things wrong.

In each load screen a different bloopers reel will be played. Load times for games are generally very short now due to SSDs etc but the studio elongated the load screens to ensure maximum amusement in this case.

My speech will revolve around thanking my family and loved ones, the rest of the fantastic creative team at the studio. I would also make a shout out to any school aged children looking to chase their dream in video game design, and show them how I had been rewarded for all of my procrastinating and laziness in school.

And of course, let's not forget a plea for world peace!

T

"Uau... eu nem sei por onde começar! Primeiro, quero agradecer à comunidade global que me ajuda a evoluir constantemente.

"Wow... what an incredible moment! I am thrilled, humbled, and incredibly grateful to be here tonight. This award is not only a recognition of the game we have created, but also a tribute to the tireless work, creativity, and passion of an entire amazing team.

I want to start by thanking every single person who has helped make our game what it is today. From sleepless nights spent solving impossible bugs, to crazy brainstorms where nothing seemed to make sense, every moment has led us to this milestone. You have been the beating heart of this project, and I couldn't be more proud of you.

Thank you to our community, who have supported us since the first announcement, believing in us even when we had doubts ourselves. This award is as much yours as it is ours. You have made our world come alive with your enthusiasm, feedback, and dedication.

A special thank you also goes out to our families and friends, who have put up with us throughout the process, understanding the endless hours of work and the days when we were too tired to explain what was happening.

Finally, I want to thank all of my industry colleagues here. Our work would not exist without the inspiration we draw from each other. Video games are an art form that brings together worlds, stories and emotions, and I am proud to be part of this family.

This award is not just an end, but a new beginning. We look forward to continuing to create, innovate and tell stories that can connect people, as this game has done with us and with all of you.

Thank you so much, truly.

N

I am incredibly honored and humbled to receive this award. The amount of talent in this room is awe-inspiring, and to be recognized among them is truly special. This moment is the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and the unwavering support of my team. To everyone who has been a part of my journey, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am truly grateful for this incredible honor and look forward to what the future holds.

R

Let’s imagine the scenario where Im the owner of a gaming company.

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed colleagues, and fellow gamers,

I stand before you today with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and awe. Winning this award is truly a moment I will never forget, and I can’t help but reflect on the journey that brought me here.

First and foremost, I want to thank the incredible team behind this game. This award is a testament to the tireless work, creativity, and passion that each and every one of you brought to the project. From the designers who crafted the worlds we explore to the writers who built the narratives we experience, to the programmers who made it all come to life — this is as much your achievement as it is mine.

To the players — you are the heart of what we do. Without your dedication, feedback, and enthusiasm, we wouldn’t be standing here today. It’s your support that pushes us to go beyond what we thought was possible. Every achievement you unlock, every challenge you conquer, and every moment of joy you find in the game fuels our drive to continue making experiences that resonate and inspire.

Finishing my speech, I would like to thank my family and friends and they are the reason that Im still here.

Peace!!

E

I would like to thank my team for this amazing award. Getting nominated alone was a huge honor, but winning the award is unbelievable. I still don't believe this is real.
