Looks different around here all of a sudden, doesn’t it? It’s good news: Just About Gaming News has become Just About Video Games! But what does this mean, and why is it such good news?
The whole purpose of our Alpha phase is so that we can learn and adjust, and build the very best community platform possible for you, our members. Pivoting to a general Video Games community is a green light to all of you to discuss whatever you want in the wild weird world of interactive art and entertainment, rather than feeling like you need to can only post news (though please keep doing that).
It’s also a green light to us to do all sorts of cool things that didn’t make sense in a news-focused community - especially with bounties.
Imagine bounties for the same kind of artful photo-video content, useful guides, thoughtful reflections, and other exciting challenges we’ve been posting in Just About EVE, but applied to the wider release calendar. The first tranche are being uploaded as we speak, covering Mortal Kombat 1, Payday 3, and Baldur’s Gate 3, as well as gaming in general. Take a look here.
You'll see a similar mix from now on, enabling everyone - not just EVE members - to get involved in one of our platform’s most exciting features.
How this helps
From our side, the insights we hope to glean from this change may affect Just About in major ways. If certain bounties or discussions get a lot of engagement, we might take that as a sign of demand for our next standalone community. We plan to use our ‘topics’ feature to categorise content (say, by game), and develop it to enable things like cross-posting and opting in and out of particular subjects. While this might seem like a minor change, it may have major implications.
- Are you arguing with friends about the best Final Fantasy and want some data to prove that it’s IX? Poll our community.
- Itching to share your overpowered Baldur’s Gate 3 coffeelock build, or your umpteenth stomping by a boss in the latest Soulslike? Go right ahead.
- Found a great news story? Keep sharing them.
- Or perhaps you just want to gush about how awesome 2023 has been for gaming so far and how we’ve still got the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, AC Mirage, Spider-Man 2, and many more to come.
Our new all-purpose Video Games space is the place to do all of this and more, and as always, we’ll be paying close attention to see what you’re responding to. Take a look, get stuck in, and do post anything and everything you want as long as it’s: Just About Video Games!
