Illustrated Bible for children. It is a collection of very short stories, usually just a few pages long. It is an adaptation of familiar Bible stories, tailored to teach kids why kindness is good and greed is bad, or how important it is to trust and love family and similar social interactions and morals.

One of my favourite collection of short stories is The Chronicles of Dragon by Craig Halloran, the story follows Nath who is a dragon trapped in human form and his Dwarvern comrade Brenwar as they set out on a journey of redemption and trials to try save the dragon kind. The book series is 20 books long and there is also a 3 book mini series in which the Nath meets with another main character from another series in a crossover event. If you are a fan of fantasy stories then books by Craig Halloran are worth the read.

Star Wars: Tales of the Bounty Hunters by Kevin J. Anderson

Collection of 5 short stories about the bounty hunters who we encounter in The Empire Strikes Back, you know the guys Vader is talking to beside Boba Fett. My favourite from them is the first one, Therefore I Am: The Tale of IG-88. Great story about artificial intelligence, and has a bit of Asimov-vibes to it.

What many people don't know, this is actually the 3rd book of a series of short story collections. There is also Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina and Tales from Jabba's Palace, all featuring the minor characters we encounter in the original trilogy, the ones who's names only the big fans know. One of the reasons why I loved the old books, they gave so much backstory to already existing characters of the universe, and once you read these, watching the movies will be a completely different experience.

Mary Gaitskill's Bad Behaviour collection definitely! It's where the book for the movie 'the secretary' came from. However, Gaitskill has said that the film was an over glamourised hollywood-ified version of her story.

One of my favourite collections of short stories is the manga Time Killers by Kazue Kato, who is well known for her series Blue Exorcist. This collection of short stories showcases how each story has influenced Blue Exorcist, whether it is through the writing or the character designs. Also, I love Kazue Kato’s explanation of the book’s name “Time Killers”:

“By the way, the title Time Killers is meant to suggest having fun or killing time. When you’re bored, or don’t want to do anything, or traveling...I hope this book becomes your time killer”.

Leed Child's 'Safe Enough' collection of short stories is great. Previously individual releases, they are being released as one book in August and its definitely worth looking at for any fans of Lee Child/Action/Thriller stories.

The man knows how to create gripping characters and storylines and somehow he manages to make each of these stories pack a punch, with angles from both sides of the law.

i always loved “Creepshow” the TV series, this tv show included segments based on King’s previously published short stories, such as “The Crate,” which was first published in the July 1979. also upon researching it now many of the episodes were inspired by classic EC Comics from the 1950s. obviously steven king wrote many short horror stories all of which are excellent to delve into.

For me, it's the World Of Warcraft books, I personally think they qualify as short stories and each book in the series follows a different storyline or arc and they are easily read, often only being around 250-300 pages long.

The fact of the matter is they are very good reads, short stories that cover the tales from start to finish and are fun to read.

We see the birth of Thrall in these books, how the Orcs where turned from peaceful into the bloodthirsty fiends we all know and love, the guardians and who they where, how Arthas became the lich king etc.
