How do you set your creator goals?

MURRRAAAAY's recent post about reaching a major view milestone got me thinking.

Do you have clear goals you want to reach throughout the year, or are you just along for the ride?

This is something I've been interested in for a while, as my Masters degree research looked at value-generation in let's play communities, but it was theory heavy and built on interviews with smaller creators.

So even if you don't currently have set goals, what could your goals be and how would you go about setting them for your channel?

Also, I'm happy to talk about the research if anyone is interested! Word of warning, asking about it might set me off on one about dusty old German, French, and Italian philosophers because I'm just that cool 😎

I do have goals i set at the start of each year, but ive realised how much the creator world can flow slow and fast, so while they are good to then look back at and reflect i try now to have shorter term goals each quarter, then review and pivot based on whats going on. Would love some more insight into what others do if anything and what they find works - I then use these quarterly goals to inform my smaller weekly goals to hopefully help me reach the bigger goals! I have been poor at tracking goals this year due to a lot of personal stuff going on so i need to get back to it.

I can only imagine the effort it must take to be a creator, and no doubt life will get in the way sometimes. That's a pretty substantial milestone you shared, so hats off for that!

It sounds like you've got a good structure to how you approach your goals. Are you more focused on views or subs, and do you think there is a different way to approach building these?

thanks fam, totally focused on views now, as thats the key to getting the subs in the first place and getting paid also. I think they are much of the same thing tbh, as you need to pull in the viewer first, give them some form of value exchange then hopefully they feel compelled to subscribe, kind of a domino effect if it goes well.
