Well kinda, it's probably the last platform where you can drop a long read. I'm using it mostly cuz of the marketplace to trade games, get collectibles, or sell something

Yeah, the marketplace is pretty useful. I'm surprised other platforms don't have one, though Facebook is more about where you live and your pre-existing offline relationships, and that makes things easier for trading.

But honestly the platform as place for trading is awful, search is terrible, sadly there are no alternatives. Wheni type Canon lens they showing me nikon and sony stuff in 70% listings, and slap couple xiaomi phones.

I occasionally hop on. But it can be weeks between visits.

That's fair! Do you think that's down to how many/few in your circle still use it, the content isn't interesting to you, or something else?

I only ever look when a family member sends a link to their Facebook post, and I feel guilty for not checking. Gotta work on my boundaries! 😂

Tbh I just use it to post memes and then watch people get upset, yanno my mates cause they don't agree with memes or text posts. Pretty sure thats all Facebook is good for now anyhow?

In all seriousness, it's a dead platform, When you have Tiktok/Snap/Whatsapp/Instagram, Facebook becomes kinda meaningless to you as a content creator.

That pretty much sums up my experience with it!

I tend to agree those platforms (and others) have diminished the relevance of Facebook, but I wonder if those older platforms could be used by creators.

I don’t use it personally as I don’t enjoy it at all, but I have it for posting content otherwise I’d probably get rid of it all together

Boomer's avatar

Yeah I get that, it's a platform with a huge userbase and probably fewer creators than people expect. Do you feel it contributes much to your growth or help you engage with your followers?

Not really, all I see on it is ads and suggested posts (so more ads). Barely anything from my friends. For a while I didn't even had the app installed but when I was setting up Buffer to use for Xitter and Insta, it was only willing to link business Insta account for which I needed a FB page.... so had to create one, but barely posting anything on there, mostly automated stuff from Insta.

That sounds so frustrating. Having the Facebook page doesn't add functionality or improve the Instagram experience, so why is it necessary? 🤷
