This isn't exactly a Content Creators topic, but I suspect some members here are, or have been, users of the platform. While Reddit's decision to restrict access to their API was controversial, it ended up in an exclusive partnership which will earn them $60 million a year. The as-yet unnamed AI company will likely be using member data to build or refine large language models, such as ChatGPT, but we'll have to wait for more details to be released.
A version of this topic was shared in a previous Thursday Thoughts discussion, but it's one we're likely to visit more than once!
It's a topic that fascinates me. The Reddit API was a great way to analyse sentiment (emotion), semantics (meaning) , and networks (structure), and that's the direction I'll be going with my uni research.
Let me know if the linked article is interesting or if I'm being too doom and gloom 😅
