To add on to another way point 4 can be a big help, if you didn’t have a real focus when starting out and your subs came from a bunch of different TYPES of videos, unchecking that box is a great way to refocus your content. I’ve done it recently and the results have been immense for both shorts and longform.

If you’re worried about your subs not seeing it, don’t, because they will. It’ll still go into the recommended feed AND, you can still share anything you want via a community post. Just make sure when you hit “share” you copy the link, then paste the link into the post. Don’t “share as post” because YouTube remembers your selection and won’t put it visible to subs. It will show if it’s just a link (and it is converted to video preview anyway).

I've seen a lot of young creators complain about burnout and it makes me think maybe it's because content creation and being freelance or self-employed is their first job, so they don't have a good understanding of healthy work habits. If you work any other job, you work 5 days a week,. 8 hours (if you are lucky...) so you have 2 days off. Yet many of these people cry for a 4 day workweek, because they are exhausted. Being a content creator is not any different, it's a job and you need days off. Or even if you do decide to make content / stream every day, at least don't do it ALL day. If I was lucky enough to be a full time creator now I would probably only work 4 days a week but longer hours. And use my 3 days off for rest, recharge and spend time with friends and family.

I don’t have any other tips as the main account and I’m not professional. I mostly run an account for my pets but avoid partnerships etc as it is more of a hobby and memory gathering for me.

Thanks so much for putting these together though. I am sure they will help a lot of people. Burnout is horrible and I know I have a tendency to through everything at something and run out of steam, so slow and steady wins the race even with content creation and social media. Taking time to understand the tools and how you can make them work for you is important I think.

Nice post fam! I pretty much think these points are spot on, All I will add is that the streaming everyday thing, i have tried it, and honestly it is brutal, i would not recommend, plus your time would be better spent making evergreen content to grow your streams when you are not streaming. Also the Networking on twitch bit I cant comment as I am a really small streamer just now with around 300 followers as this is a new avenue i have been enjoying exploring after being very focused on YouTube, One thing I would add for the streaming point is play what you enjoy, i have been there playing games you don't enjoy because you think it will get you growth etc and its just miserable, unlike now streaming is just a kind of add on to my YouTube where i stream to chill out and i am super enjoying it playing games i love!

Also the biggest point is point 1, this is not some easy thing, infact id say its the toughest thing Ive ever done (minus working a full time job and doing YouTube grind to get to a point I could quit my job, that was really really tough) , you need to be consistently relentless otherwise you do not move forward as it is all on you, the work ethic and discipline is next level say compared to working on big corporate projects which become entity in themselves and say you are off sick they can keep progressing, not in the content creation world, if you stop, it stops (apart from your evergreen content thats hopefully doing the rounds)!

That being said, its one of the most rewarding as it is such a buzz when you get a bit of content which you have made from scratch do really well, it like instant feedback versus your job where you get your appraisal each year.

So on that note if you ever want anyone to shoot the breeze with and chat about content creation etc (or games lol) I am here every Tuesday and Thursday on Twitch (or get me on Just About obvs!) Always happy to lend my experiences or help where i can!

Oh yeah that is one more point which Just About has been great for is hanging with fellow creators as content creation can be a lonely road, your friends and family might not get it, there's no mentor you can just chat to like say if you worked in a big company and there is probably not a lot of other people doing it, so be prepared to put yourself out there and learn on the job!

I don’t have any tips as well as I’m a noob 🤣 but I love that I’m learning a bunch here. I think my current weakness is detailed planning and so what I will do is when I have a rough idea I will just record my gameplay like 4-5 hours and just grab what I think is applicable. I think it’s inefficient but at the same time I’m enjoying the game myself so it’s not a total loss. I will remember to apply these tips into what I do.
