The game is designed to encourage exploration and probably one of the best ways to level up quickly is to allow yourself to go off the beaten path.

There are 'mini boss' type enemies in every nook and cranny. Taking time out of your quests to wander and hunt these bad boys down will help you rack up some serious XP early on in the game's story.

Another point would be not to avoid groups of lower power enemies (eg goblins) as you score some really good XP just by taking out big groups of easier foe, almost like a multiplier is, added to the XP earned for the volume of enemies defeated.

And don't forget side quests! Not only do they often lead you to some juicy battles but the XP for completing the quest itself is very useful!

Thief: S-tier vocation

To quickly become overpowered in Dragon's Dogma, follow these steps:

  1. Choose the Thief's vocation.

  2. Head to Vernworth capital and accept the quest to find a nameless village.

  3. Complete the Thief-Maister challenge there to obtain a scroll with two skills.

  4. Equip Blades of the Pyre and Formless Feint (or Swift Step to conserve stamina).

With Formless Feint, you can dodge even magical attacks like Harpy's sleep or dragon breath, making you virtually unkillable. Meanwhile, Blades of the Pyre deliver an absurd amount of damage, and you can also avoid the self-harm side effect.

Additionally, I recommend watching Konquest ’s video on how to traverse with a Thief. This vocation is the most mobile in the game, allowing you to cross gaps or reach high locations that are inaccessible to other classes.
