I recently took a player mining, i had the glitch were you buy limpets, but when you get to the site, no limpets, happens in elite, in 8 years playing they've never fixed little things like this in game mechanics.
we were in the hotspot, and i just decided to mine the asteroids and let the other player collect them, doubling their yield, (in team this is possible) after a while i thought that the asteroids were depleting too fast, so i asked what prospector they were using, a 3c multi controller, i advised them that the low yield was due to the prospector controller they were using. after one run i made sure i had limpets for the second run.
the second run i prospected a 43% platinum asteroid and said mine that, the increase in yield was noticeable, about 40% better yield, i learned this early in the game, so if you want to go mining, get the right gear.
