All content, including the music, is captured in-game. I managed to squeeze my epic first 10 hours of gameplay into just 3 minutes - enjoy!

Elite Dangerous - Timelapse - LHS 6427 A 3

https://www.youtube.com/embed/QTWIzeF6TSQ?feature=oembed

I decided to film this time lapse in the LHS 6427 system because of its twin ringed planets.

The idea was to show the movement of the plants i relation of each other and the beauty to look to those rings from the ground and space!

Shot on Kumay, Chi Herculis system in Legacy Horizons.

While running an EDCopilot SRV time trial on Kumay, Alec Turner's 'Snake', it was time for a break.

It's Kumay's winter and the sun only just sneaks above the horizon, which when combined with the occasional eclipse by its parent Apasam means the sun makes brief appearances.

This 'day' lasted 15 minutes.

A pair of moons orbitting Synuefe WH-F c0, Planet 1 crash roughly every 8 weeks. They've earned the name "the Cyanean Rocks", in reference to the rocks that lie in the Bosphorus between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean and are the setting for a part of the famous legend of Jason and the Argonauts. when two bodies are intersecting in Elite the rules controlling gravity are impacted and objects can be trapped inside, dragged and thrown along. Even fleet carriers aren't immune! The ground becomes the sky and flips back again repeatedly.

I was lucky enough to map the Epsilon Indi system when Horizons came out. One of the moons there is Mitterand Hollow, which orbits the Earth-like world New Africa every 90 seconds. I've been there many times, and the Coriolis starport nearby was for a long time my home system.

By speeding up the video ten times, the orbit of Mitterand Hollow is easy to see. However, when you're standing on the moon, it looks as though New Africa is doing the orbiting!

The Christmas jumper was from a few years back, when the mysterious Winking Cat left a cache on the moon. The Canonn megaship The Gnosis is also a regular visitor.

A video exploring time lapse in Elite Dangerous, shown from the moon 1a in the CC Eri system. The moon has a very short orbital period of 4 hours which makes it ideal for some nice vistas.

Incredible timing, that is amazing!

This is so lovely and relaxing.

Many people say that their life is monotonous... and they fantasise about living adventures in space... because life in space is not monotonous...

I love the monotony of ED

Well, this is by far my most challenging edit. In fact, it's the first time-lapse I've ever made and my first serious video editing attempt - whether on a computer or a phone. I'm definitely not a photo/video person, so I apologize if anything seems off.

Now, about the video... Core mining was something I taught myself by reading the in-game Codex, and it led me to discover what I find to be the most satisfying task in Elite Dangerous. The sound design is impeccable, and I tried to honor it with this time-lapse. It showcases my journey to HIP 103571 for a multiple material overlap in a planet ring, a glimpse of the mining process itself, my return to Naddoddur Terminal (Yembo) to sell the goods - with plenty of asteroid kabooms along the way.

Hey GraphicEqualizer, we've awarded you a reward this time given that this is a cool, unique, and topical video, but do pay attention to the small-print - we were looking for videos of at least two minutes in length for this one.

Quite an old one this (pre-Odyssey). It was filmed on planet Kumay in the Chi Herculis system during The First Great Planetary Expedition where a whole bunch of commanders spent a month or so completely circumnavigating the planet. It's pretty bland in Odyssey but if you go back to the legacy build you'll find this is quite possibly the most beautiful planet in the galaxy.

Anyway, this crater (named "Sunrise Crater") was quite a detour from our intended route but I wanted to visit it because it's HUGE (the video really doesn't do it justice).

While I was there I got to witness a sunset which I made into this timelapse video.

You can read the full story in the expedition forum thread.

This first video is a collection of time lapse moments, documenting my trip to Sagittarius A* and taking in the views.

Juenae SJ-Q c5-1787 - Hyperion's Rise is located around 1000ly below Sagittarius A* in the Galactic Core of our galaxy. Body C1 has a 100% Sulphur Dioxide tenuous atmosphere and orbits it's parent Class T Brown Dwarf around 0.62 LS away. Both orbit a larger Class L Dwarf star around 6.2 LS away. The Main star in the system is a Class K around 270 LS away.

Wow thank you! Real pleasure making time lapse videos in game, glad people appreciate the work put into these videos

Alright sooo... I've made something. It's not a thing to be taken very seriously, it was supposed to be a casual time-lapse but so many random events and ideas happened that I had to change my plans a little bit 😅

It's a time-lapse made in 3 different styles, each one has something... unique moment 😄

I hope you will enjoy watching this!

I also did a video using Mitterrand Hollow - I didn't realise there was already one, but I think our approaches are quite different anyway, so I hope you don't mind. I like your use of Yakety Sax (the Benny Hill theme) over the last part of your video. It is a very silly little moon.

XCezor's avatar

Sure no problem with that 😉

I chuckled aloud several times in this, but I especially loved the 'neeee-ooow' sounds. Second place and $30 is yours!

Hi Alex, great idea for a bounty. I would have loved to have entered this one but couldn't find all the time I needed with work going on. Watching the submissions was inspiring and I'll keep practicing my video editing! Thanks again for running this one.

Thanks Osiliran, very nice of you to say! 🫶

Every single video was fantastic, and this was both one of the hardest and most enjoyable bounties I've awarded since JA started. We'll definitely be showcasing your videos in some curated content. Fantastic work! 🙌

This was actually a fun project to work on, because it's so different. You need a LOT of raw footage to make a 2 minute time lapse!

CMDR_M's avatar

Indeed! 6 hours —> 3 minutes :)

CMDR Henckes's avatar

Thanks Alex Sinclair, it really took some time, around 5 hours without touching my PC hahaha

But I loved the results and the other videos are really great and amazing. Loved each single one here!

MQC's avatar

Thanks for the comment, it makes me feel twice as happy to participate.

I can only admit that, whenever I participate in any of these bounties, when I compare my entry with the rest of the participants, I quickly realize that they are all much better than mine... but the people are incredible... the ED community is the best...

And I don't intend to feel sad, on the contrary, I'm going to continue enjoying the content that everyone creates like a child.

Alex Sinclair's avatar

It's a lovely sentiment, but don't sell yourself short - you've shared some amazing content with us!

Thank you Alex, it shows just how strong and talented the Elite Dangerous community is!

Great work by all entrants!

Thanks Alex Sinclair! I love Elite Dangerous timelapses. With Elite being a full scale galactic simulation there's lots of movement that can only really be appreciated when viewed at an accelerated timescale. One type of timelapse I only just remembered actually was the kind that showcase people's journey's around the galaxy via a timelapse of their hyperspace jumps on a galactic map. I don't know if you've ever seen this one but my favourite was a community project from a few years ago to draw the Fuel Rats logo on the galaxy (where commanders could volunteer to go off and draw various bits of it).

Anyway, thanks again. A fun bounty and I'm looking forward to seeing the curated version.

Oh no way, that's too cool. It's also inspired me to add the bounty 'tell us about the most impressive things Elite players have done' to our calendar.
