The second half of EVE’s 20th year has a lot of promise. Still riding high from two popular expansions, few players are mourning the loss of Quadrants, and of course Fanfest looms in September. Expectations are high for EVE’s beloved community event, with the consensus that big news is on the horizon.
As we build Just About EVE Online, we want to offer fans plenty to do around its event calendar. Here are some of the larger official events coming up in the next few weeks, and what we’re planning alongside them.
CSM18
The Council of Stellar Management candidate submissions open tomorrow (August 1), with application processing due to run until the 18th. Live candidates will be announced on August 23, from which point campaigning will last until September 3. A week-long voting period will then commence on the 4th, with the winners announced at Fanfest. CSM18 is taking a new format this year with CCP choosing two additional candidates from the shortlist.
If you fancy yourself a political correspondent, we’ll be running a bounty for top-quality election coverage. Keep your eyes peeled.
Arc Events
While Empire Day and other classic summer events have been put on the backburner as tools and systems are strengthened, Arc events will unfold throughout the remaining summer months.
Alliance Tournament XIX
With live broadcasts kicking off on August 12 and 13, then again on the 19th and 20th, EVE’s premier ‘winner-stays-on’ esports event promises to be bigger and better than ever. Gallente are taking the lead on this year’s tournament with Adrestia and Utu variants as the prize ships. Alongside changes to point values for Triglavian ships, newer Navy Faction ships will have a chance to shine.
We’ll be running multimedia bounties for coverage of both weekends of the tournament, so stay tuned for more details.
Fanfest 2023
The big one. As Reykjavik gets taken over by capsuleers once again, the usual keynotes, events, and pub crawl shenanigans are expected to be supercharged with some major announcements. Fanfest is taking place from September 21 to 23, with some preliminary community events in the preceding days.
We’ll be running at least one bounty around Fanfest, inviting fans to speculate on the show in the run-up.
Beyond Fanfest
The release date and details of 2023’s second expansion will be revealed at Fanfest before its scheduled winter launch. Crimson Harvest and Winter Nexus will also return to see us through the end of the year.
