Spreading the Positivity Across Communities, Eh!

Hey there, fellow space adventurers!

Last weekend was an absolute blast as we had the pleasure of hosting an electrifying interview with none other than @Rupert himself on the one and only Beaver Show! https://youtu.be/Rl4PmVijKBE

In case you're new to this uniquely Canadian phenomenon, imagine this: Two friendly wormholers, Ben and Dame, who also happen to be an awesome husband-and-wife team, dishing out all things Eve Online every week, mostly the latest news. Oh, and yes, plenty of "ehs" and "Sorry" included! 😉

We were totally intrigued by JA's mission of cultivating a troll-free, positive atmosphere. It's like maple syrup for the gaming soul! But here's the pondering: Can this splendid idea scale up while avoiding the pitfalls of becoming an "elitist" or "good people/Carebear" club, thanks to those pesky trolls? We're genuinely curious if JA's marketing wizards have a master plan to project this awesomeness to the cosmos!So, pull up a chair, dear forum folks, and let's have a good ol' Canuck-style chat about it!

Thanks for your Canadian enthusiasm!

We're here to listen and to learn from anybody who has successfully (or unsuccessfully!) maintained a positive and non-toxic community at scale. It's a really difficult challenge.

It's one of the reasons we're taking our roll-out step by step and not in a rush, so that we can get the foundations right before we open up the doors to all.

We know that if we can create a safe and non-toxic space it'll help attract people who are otherwise put off, and encourage them to participate. Some things we're doing off the top of my head:

Bring in our first community members to help set the tone, identify areas we need to improve, and help us show new joiners what's expected from them.
Ensure we put in place the right policies and implement them fairly and consistently at all times.
Give community moderators the tools, data and support they need to help keep the platform safe.
Offer moderator rewards for maintaining their communities (more on this soon!).
Zero tolerance to abuse and breaches of our Terms of Use.
