The biggest mistake I made as a new player was accepting an offer to join a corporation too soon.

This led to me being a clueless newbie in Nullsec before I was ever prepared to be there and it made everything a lot harder.

My first mistake as a new player was to join a corp because a recruiter pressed me into it. It turned out to be a technique to just impose high taxes on unknowing new players who hadn't got their heads around the game yet. They kept changing corp roles on me so I couldn't leave.

I ended up having to shoot other corp members before they let me out. It left a sour taste in my mouth.

The lesson is, do a little research on a corp / alliance before you join it.

Autopiloting in Uedama, undocking from Jita 4-4 without a bookmark or afk mining in Poinen? Nope, i think my biggest mistakes related to NOT taking actions or.missed opportunities. Plex when it was 1 mil, not 5 mil. Or gold monocle when they were for 5b on a market, not 40!

There are many other examples when i wanted to buy or sell something and then for some reasons actions were not taken.

well till this day it hurts me

i have been a pretty new player back then and i got invited in a random corp - the owner was from the same country as me so i though "why not"

later he wanted me to try out joining the corp in wormhole life, i did want to do that but i didnt want to come unprepared

i farmed the current event (it was rouge drone event if i remamber correctly) in order to get enough isk for at least 2 months of omega (i am completely free to play player) and hell ... i meanaged to get enough for one month in luqid isk and i had another 2 bil worth of loot ready

however i saw how much i would be loosing by selling in amarrso i decided that for the first time i would leave amarr space and try getting the loot to the jita everyones talking about. big load ... gonna need iteron mark V for that i though

so i did take it and loaded it with 2 bil worth of loot and went to 50 jump long jurney in it from amarr to jita ... in an unfitted iteron

thats how i got introduced to uedama and high sec ganks, this loss had cost me a great and about 1 year long struggle for omega - everything i made every month went to omega... thankfully i meanged to push through and i am doing good now.

i am i am sure never doing this again :D

When I started in 2013, I did grind level 2 missions with a destroyer until I could afford a mining barge. You can probably already see it coming...

I sat in some highsec belt and eventually went afk for "just a minute". Well, some distraction happened and I ended up being afk for some hours. When I came back all I had was a wreck and my pod sitting beside it. The barge had died to highsec belt-rats, not even gankers. To make it worse, I had also broken the first rule of Eve: Don't undock what you can't afford to lose. This barge was most of the ISK I had at the time, and the idea of going back to level 2 missions with my Coercer was so demotivating that I quit Eve.

But after a while I gave Eve another shot, and that's when it stuck. Nowadays I try to shoo new people away from mining, hoping to spare them that experience.
