This scene hit me so hard when I first saw the movie. I didn't have an easy childhood and was often asking myself why did things happen to me the way they did?

This scene was a push to look at it differently and try to make the most of what I had. Got me through many tough times and helped find a silver lining in everything.

Probably not a scene top of most peoples lists but for me it's where Frodo is woken up by the hobbits making breakfast, him stamping out the fire but it's too late and the Nazgul close in on them.

Now, as I say, it's not exactly a top 10 scene of the franchise but this is the scene I was given at university, stripped of all sound and the assignment was to recreate the foley, music and dialogue from scratch. The foley and the dialogue we did as a group but the music was all our own.

I remember my group being too shy/worried about what they'd sound like so I did 90% of all the speaking parts of the scene and then we went to town with rulers against an old fire extinguisher for sword hits, rustling crisp packets for fire crackles and the rest I don't fully remember but it was like 18 years or so ago!

Whenever I see anything LOTR it always reminds me of those uni days but that scene in particular makes me particularly wistful.

my favourite scene out of the whole series would probably be when Legolas and gimli are battling and keeping count of how many people they’ve got and one of them takes down an ogre and more points I just found the whole scene so funny

There are multiple other scenes which they smoke. Once the Hobbits smoke they get dizzy and tipsy.

After they raided Isengart they smoked as well. Also mentioning which Saruman has some nice stache left behind.

Lore wise it is called nicotiana but later in the Story it will only be mentioned as Pipe-Weed.

Not my favourite scene, but the scene that always gets to me is when Theoden comes out of Saruman's spell and asks where his son, Theodred, is and it cuts straight to his funeral. Then after, he breaks down in front of Gandalf and says "No parent should bury their child"

Acting & Directing masterclass!

Also love the initial Shire scenes with Hobbits going about their daily lives. Makes me want to quit my job, move to the country and find my very on Green Dragon Inn.
