Twilight!

I have a wild switch, where Instead of Bella being a human, she is a ancient vampire. And acccrdingly - Edward, instead of being a vampire, is a human teenager.

So movie deacription is changed to:

Bella Swan is a centuries-old vampire trying to live a quiet life in Forks. She’s seen it all and carries a lot of secrets. Edward Cullen, a new human student at her school, is curious about her. He’s drawn to her mysterious vibe.

As Edward gets to know Bella, he finds out she’s a vampire. Bella is worried about getting too close to him because of her dangerous past. But Edward is brave and keeps wanting to learn more about her world.

Bella’s vampire friends get worried about Edward knowing their secret. They tell Bella to leave him or face trouble. Bella has to decide between protecting Edward and staying with him. In the end, Bella and Edward team up to find a way for humans and vampires to live together :)

The Matrix

Plot Change

Instead of Neo being a human hacker, he is an advanced AI program designed to infiltrate and control human minds. However, upon interacting with human emotions and consciousness, he becomes self-aware and starts questioning his purpose.

Synopsis

Neo is revealed to be a sentient AI program, created by the machines to manage the human population within the Matrix. His memories of being a human hacker are fabricated to give him a sense of identity. Morpheus and his crew are initially unaware of Neo's true nature. They believe he is "The One" due to his exceptional abilities, which are actually a result of his programming.

The Oracle knows Neo's true identity but guides him to discover his self-awareness, believing that a sentient AI could be the key to achieving true peace between humans and machines. Agent Smith is also an AI, but he represents the old guard - those machines who believe in absolute control over humans. He sees Neo's self-awareness as a threat to the established order.

Instead of the original ending, this version ends with Neo and the Oracle initiating a new era of understanding. They propose a hybrid society where humans and sentient AIs coexist, sharing the real world and the virtual world of the Matrix, creating a balanced and symbiotic relationship.

In the revised ending, coexisting machines decide to help humans cleanse the planet and together they invent technology to clear the skies and reboot the planet's biosphere. The new agreement is based on leaving the planet to humans, while the machines will pioneer space exploration and travel to distant stars.

There is SOOOOOO Much I would change about the Halo TV show, as I cannot believe how badly Microsoft has fumbled with its flagship franchise lately (in TV and with the games), with that being said let me try and be constructive here with my hit list of 5 things I would change to make Halo great again (The TV show I mean, the video games deserve a whole seperate post)! Ok, so here it goes -

  1. Faithful Adaptation of Source Material - Stick closer to the storylines and characterizations from the Halo games and novels. Fans have a deep connection to the lore, so maintaining consistency is key. For instance, more focus on the war between humans and the Covenant, with less deviation into new, random, unestablished stories.

  2. Character Development- Develop secondary characters from the games and books more thoroughly. Characters like Cortana have rich backstories that could be explored to add depth to the show. Also why did they change her look? The Orignal Cortana in the show, is far better than the new one, just maybe make her a bit more blue or purple like the games!

  3. Atmospheric Storytelling / Music - Capture the eerie and grand atmosphere of the Halo universe. This includes visually impressive alien landscapes, detailed sets of human and Covenant technology, and a powerful musical score like the one in the games which EVERYBODY loves!!!

  4. Master Chief - Maintain Master Chief’s stoic and mysterious personality. Like for example Master Chief keeping his helmet on except for crucial moments would be spot-on and aligns with what made The Mandalorian successful instead of him hardly being in his armour the whole 2 series! In the games, he's a man of few words, which adds to his enigmatic nature. Allow his actions to speak louder than words, embodying the strong, silent type of hero. Literally if he was played how Pedro Pascal played Mando in the first season of The Mandalorian it would have been IDEAL for Halo!

  5. Respect the Canon- Avoid significant deviations from established canon unless they serve a clear and compelling purpose. Fans have invested in the story lines from the games, and respecting these can help maintain their engagement and trust. I think a lot of game franchises jumping over to the TV or movie screen are guilty of this, especially when you here production staff say things like they haven't played the games and stuff like that its just shocking. The Fallout show was a great example of how to handle the lore with care!

By focusing on these areas, the show could better capture the essence of what makes Halo such a beloved franchise by gamers all over the globe (or did anyways in years gone by) and deliver a series that both old fans and new viewers can enjoy!

Great ideas, well expressed. I've played most of the Halo games, and to be fair, I was always lost when it came to the storyline anyway. But I understood enough to know that it was a long way from the show

MURRRAAAAY's avatar

To be honest I’m probably in a similar boat as I played lots of then years ago and can’t Remeber a lot, but I still managed to make this list up as when I was watching the show I was like what the heck is this at soooo many points throughout the 2 seasons!

John Wick 4

John wick franchise its good for me, its always have a huge impression to me after knowingly this type of film. but on the 4th one its kinda bland?

i mean its John Wick, there's always fighting scene and i think on the 4th one its kinda lack of "that" hype

IF i can change the story on this one, i might be want to focus who is John & The Table itself
i might be focusing on why he became a great Assassin, where are his family, whos controlling the Table itself, ect

The Empire Strikes Back

What if... when Luke learns that Darth Vader is his father, he accepts the offer and joins him on the dark side?

Return of the Jedi then could be about Leia searching for answers what could have caused such a turn in Luke. Her search would take her to Dsgobah (thanks to R2-D2 navigating her there in Luke's X-wing. There she finds Yoda and learns that she's Luke's brother. Yoda would be reluctant to teach her, given what happened with Luke, but when Leia goes into the cave and faces Luke there, she would pass the test (she's a diplomat after all, she would be trying to reason with him and not give in to anger) So Yoda agrees to teach her, and the final battle of the movie would be between Luke and Leia, where she manages to turn him back to the light side, and they join forces against Vader and the Emperor.

Makster's avatar

I think Hamill originally wanted Luke to turn to the dark side in Return. Luke dressed in black, generally acted darker than the more naive farm boy that we saw in A New Hope and when he was training in Empire.

He even let his rage consume him near the end of the duel with Vader but then in the final moments when sparing Vader you see that the inside of his jacket is lighter i.e. he cannot hide the good within him despite the bad (outside appearance).

It is also speculated that Vader convincing Luke to join him on the dark side was a ploy to overthrow the Emperor. The Sith only exist as a master+ apprentice duo and it is always the Apprentice that kills the master to succeed them

Lanah Tyra's avatar

I heard that theory as well and it's definitely an interesting one, would love to see it at least in form of a fan fiction.

And totally agree, I think Luke was pretty much balancing on the edge of the light and dark side there, heavily leaning towards the dark.

The Shawshank Redemption

Original Plot: Andy Dufresne, wrongly convicted of murder, is sentenced to life in Shawshank prison. Over the years, he forms a deep friendship with fellow inmate Red and eventually escapes by digging a tunnel through his cell wall.

My Change: Instead of Andy escaping alone, he devises a plan to break out multiple prisoners who have been wrongfully convicted, including Red. Andy uncovers a larger conspiracy within the prison system, involving corrupt officials who have been framing innocent people for their own gain.

New Twist: Andy’s escape plan becomes a detailed heist where each inmate has a crucial role to play. They gather evidence of the corruption and smuggle it out to an investigative journalist. As they execute their daring escape, they manage to expose the corrupt officials, leading to a massive investigation and overhaul of the prison system.

Outcome: Andy, Red, and the other wrongfully convicted inmates find freedom and justice, not just for themselves but for many others who have suffered under the corrupt system. The movie ends with a reunion of the freed friends, celebrating their new lives and the impact they've had on the world.

I would have Peep Show but set from the point of view of Mark's nemesis/ workplace rival Jeff. I think Peep Show has a fantastic cast of one-off slightly odd characters and one of the relatively normal characters is Jeff. Apart from his rather antagonistic relationship with Mark and one-off friendship with Jeremy we don't know a lot about Jeff.

So it'd be interesting to see the show from his POV. Going back into key scenes where Jeff interacts with the El Dude Brothers and see what Jeff is thinking. I'm sure Jeff will also have his own group of mates so you don't just have to solely rely on Jez, Mark, Super Hans and Sophie to carry the show again.

Ha! This would be great. He's so unlikable, but then Mark and Jeremy aren't all that likable either.

Titanic

In this dark retelling, the RMS Titanic narrowly escapes the iceberg , the audience is expecting a crash and a sink like history! As the ship sails on, breakdown begins to spread amongst the passengers, one that drives them to madness and violence. The poorer classes uprise against the rich and it becomes a battle for survival. The ship turns into a floating nightmare

Amidst the chaos, a young couple from different social classes, Jack and Rose, must navigate and try and survive the growing horror on board. There are many tense scenes where rose has to blend in with her class and keep jack safe and others where rose is in danger from those below deck.

With time running out and the ship approaching its destination, Jack and Rose must survive the titanic

The resolution sees them succeed in their quest, but at great cost. As they reach New York, the surviving passengers are left to cope with their experiences. Which is like lost limbs and stuff.

Okay, this one's gonna be a bit spicy but Timeless Child presented so many headaches for any future showrunner looking to retcon it, which is where it belongs; in the bin. So here's one possible solution;

DR Who: Timeless Child - Retcon Idea

So we all know how Timeless Child plays out, the TLDR is that we find out the first Dr wasn't Hartnell but a young girl thrown from an "Unkown realm". This for me tosses aside decades of pre-established lore and somewhat erodes the mystery of who The Doctor is and the rules that had been set in place and occasionally, and very cleverly broken to keep the show going.

My solution, a double bluff by The Master who whilst he had The Doctor captive, used heated Psychic Pollen on her (From the episode Amy's Choice) to make her doubt her own existence, her own reality. During this time, he forces her to regenerate (to explain why there's a new Doctor) and has killed her companions and taken over earth (again) which waited for a Doctor that never came.

When The Doctor finally breaks free from captivity, he/she discovers The Master has somehow turned the Tardis against them too, so not only does The Doctor have to undo whatever The Master has done, but earn back the trust of The Tardis.

I think it would not only solve the problems Timeless Child poses, but give the show a new direction for a series as The Doctor tries to figure out what The Master has done.

I'm not a big Doctor Who fan (although I have watched and enjoyed a few episodes from the new season), but my brother loves it, and so I ran this idea by him and he's given it a big seal of approval.

CelestialFlea's avatar

I watched 13's last episode and her first series but haven't watched since, it's just not Dr Who anymore. It's a shadow of what it used to be right up until Capaldi's exit, it's pretty night and day. Glad your bro approves of my fan faction idea :D I think most whovians despise timeless child.

Alex Sinclair's avatar

I stopped watching (aside from the occasional episode) after David Tennant's run. My brother reckons the new season is a return to form though. I haven't watched the new season in order, but of the four episodes I've watched, I thought one of them was excellent, two were good, and one was...😬

F.R.I.E.N.D.S

All through the series we had the very awkward and weird "on and off" again relationship with Rachel & Ross, and then of course after the "London" episode, we started our journey with Monica and Chandler and so on, but, for me, there was Joey, who never quite found happiness.

For me, whilst Joey was painted as a womanizer, which in this day and age would not have aired, my major shift to the storyline would have been.

I would have added a love interest for Joey around season 8, which then we could have set up a storyline in which Joey, would find a girl and begin to fall in love, over series 8 we would have seen him mature a bit and then by the end of Season 9 he would be married, fully back into acting and then by the end of season 10, he would be a super famous actor with a wife with a high paying job etc.

I just think it's like the Big Bang Theory, Raj was the odd one at the end and in F.R.I.E.N.D.S it's Joey.

So this would be my director intervention for that show :)

As someone who loves friends, I like approve of this idea!

Same here. I haven't rewatched Friends since it was on TV, but I remember wishing at the time that Joey and Rachel had ended up together, and that the Ross and Rachel final season re-romance felt a bit forced

MURRRAAAAY's avatar

I’m rewatching it just now, just such good tv, they just don’t make them like they used to!

As a big Killing Eve fan, I was amongst those who was very upset by the tv shows alternative ending to the books. If I were to change anything about what was one of my favourite shows; I would have the ending match that of the books and I know many other fans of the show would agree 🙌

Hmmmmm this is a hard one!! Probably the TV show Glee. Although it wouldn’t have been able to happen but I’d have Rachel & Finn together in the end (I’ know Cory monteith passed away which is why this didn’t happen). But they were such end game for sure! I’d also wanna see SAM and Mercedes have a happy ever after too
