When the feature becomes available, how will new communities be created?
Will everyone be able to start one? Will there be an application process to make one?
How will people be able to discover communities, will there be a navigation menu or will people use search terms to find them?

Hi Philip! The plan for new community launches is broadly in three stages:
During Alpha (over the next couple of months) we will be selecting and launching a handful of communities ourselves. We've picked a few that we think that will be interesting & evergreen whilst allowing us to keep building and testing the tech. We especially want to ensure we test and balance the rewards, badges and points systems fully before we launch many more groups.
In Beta and through to launch, we'll steadily ramp up the number of communities and broaden out the topics. We'll still be responsible for setting these up at our end, but taking into account requests and suggestions from members.
Once the platform is stable and we're happy with the economy and rewards etc, future new launches will be led by the community. I think we'll still have an application/approval process but that hasn't been defined yet! Certainly open to all feedback and suggestions on how this ideally might work.
The left-hand navigation will allow people to browse/explore communities on the platform, as well as through search.
