Hey everyone, I hope another Monday finds you all well! Here's our usual weekly update, this time with some words about some of the most exciting bounties we're currently running: the high-reward mysteries on Just About EVE Online.
Cosmic conundrums
If you’ve been on Just About EVE you've probably noticed this mysterious bounty, and just before the weekend we added a second that was similarly enigmatic.
Our goal with these is to inspire the EVE community on a weeks-long journey, solving puzzles, having adventures, and exploring what we can do with our bounties together. But the puzzles should be the challenge; it’s no fun if there’s total confusion around what to expect, so we’re going to drop the mask a little.
Stage One will be a sequence of puzzles, with each solution leading us to post the clue for the next. The first puzzle was contained in a QR code in the bounty's header image, and was solved over the weekend, with several clever members working out that they should post a screenshot of EVE's in-game statue of Katia Sae. Hence, we've now posted a second image-based puzzle to the thread and the bounty description. It’s a bit trickier than the first, and there’s no cost to discussing it publicly and trying to solve it together.
The final challenge (of Stage One) will be a series of riddles that will be revealed in private, and the first member to post the solution to these will get the $100 prize. The hope is that this feat will be significant enough that the community will feel the winner has earned it, and those who helped solve the earlier puzzles will still feel motivated to have a crack at Stage Two and beyond - as hinted in the header image for the $500 mystery, we’re planning several component parts to this adventure, each with their own $100 prize.
This is by far the most experimental bounty we’re running, so as with all things in our Alpha, bear with us and share any feedback!
Platform update
If you’ve ever tried to share a discussion or comment and clicked the paper aeroplane button, only to find the little box that should contain the URL heart-crushingly empty, you’ll now find that the same action works as expected. Share away! You should also notice, as you’re scrolling your community feeds, that posts you’ve already read now appear in a sophisticated shade of grey so you know what to skip.
Finally, some background code has been deployed for something hugely exciting that I’m not allowed to talk about yet, but keep an eye out for an announcement later this week.
Thanks all. See you around the site! - Rich
