I think they're here to stay. I've found some search engines are less effective than they once were, and I like that AI assistants are able to interpret meaning.
Imagine you're trying to ask a question but you can't quite find the right phrase. Search engines will take exactly what you ask, whether it's actually what you want.
AI assistants can help rephrase the question, helping to come up with better search terms, meaning you end up with better results overall. I'd be very cautious with taking AI assistants' advice or answers at face value.

yeah I agree, I was meaning more in this form factor? I wonder if it’s unnecessary as all this tech can just be implemented into a mobile phone? Do you have any you recommend I try I’ve just tried the usual Microsoft co pilot type stuff which is very good
Ah I see! I think it's a cool idea, but I'd rather just use my smartphone.
Depending on its functionality it might appeal to a younger audience. I could see it being complementary to the boring phone, letting you get rid of the extra baggage that smartphones bring, but then how long until we have a premium semi-smart phone?
