At this point, we have arranged MCM in October with some friends, and then we are all saving for next year's MCM, deciding to do different cosplays over the three days and stay in a decent hotel for the three days.

Pretty much it at this point.

That's awesome! Have you settled on who/what to cosplay yet?

MCM was the big one for a lot of my group, with EGX and Insomnia being the others.

Music-wise, Download, Reading, and Sonisphere were my go-to festivals, and a friend of mine runs the local horror con and monthly film club.

From what I understand day one is Star Wars and day two is stargate whatever series you want to go as and day three is whatever we want to do

Boomer's avatar

I feel like day three has to be another major Star series.

I know...Star Blazers! 😁

Will be following Twitchcon as a creator friend is going, so will have a look at her streams and reviews of it and maybe I'll try to go to the next one.

MCM would be fun. not sure yet if I can fit it in, getting down to London can be such a pain sometimes, but would be nice to go and meet people from the JA community.

That's cool! Have you shared your friend's profiles on any of the bounties in Content Creators?

Your point about London is so true! I used to host the annual RTUK event in Leicester because it's central and so convenient. We also encouraged member-led meetups around the country to foster a closer sense of community.

It'd be great to meet up with more members 😊

Yes I did nominate her once as upcoming creator and actually thinking to share her video again for the recent best content bounty because I think it's brilliant.

Devcom, Gamescom, Tokyo Games Show, Money20/20 and maybe some metaverse/web3 stuff in between ;)

Makster's avatar

you going to all these shows?

Sturmer's avatar

i hope so, some tickets are already booked

Boomer's avatar

That's a lot of travelling! What sort of metaverse/web3 events are you into? I'll admit I'm painfully unfamiliar with applications of web3 beyond NFTs and crypto. I'd love to learn more 🙂

Still waiting for invites, but usually, there are Metaverse Mixer by pocketgamer.biz and a 2-day summit by saga.xyz, both hosted in Cologne. in august. And there probably will be more after Money20/20 Europe which is happening now in Amsterdam.

I have a busy schedule lol

Boomer's avatar

That's totally fair! It's great when events can offer a hybrid experience, as it makes them far more accessible in so many ways.

For the rest of the year I have plans to attend 9 comic/anime/gaming events, 4 concerts and 4 food based events.

The only one I regularly go to is Thought Bubble in Harrogate. It's a comic convention which started off pretty small but I'm glad that it's grown so big. Usually only go for one day since I'm not a massive fan unless there is a big comic creator exhibiting and I want to get a sketch or autograph.

I went last year and saw Babs Tarr who was soo sweet and kind, she signed my Batgirl of Burnside TPB and we were able to spend a lot of time talking. There's a lot of new and upcoming creators in the art and comic space too so it's really nice to support indie creators

Boomer's avatar

Awesome! I've always wanted to go to Thought Bubble 🙂 Do you have a favourite artist or creator from across the years?

The friend I mentioned above also ran the first comic con in a nearby city and he raves about Thought Bubble! Unfortunately he doesn't run the local comic con anymore, but he's still active in events.
