Mine would have to be professional wrestling. There is absolutely nothing like it in the whole entire world. Imagine your favourite weekly TV series but add in there is a new episode (tbh 5 new episodes a week these days), there is no off season, you always get introduced to new characters. Old favourite characters can show up out of nowhere. The storylines are written but can be changeable in real time or even on the fly as it's all live AND you can attend the show live in an arena, interact with the characters and influence the storylines with your voices on social media. Thats just SOME of the absolute magic of professsional wrestling

What other TV show has a dead man return from the dead who can teleport at will?? Wrestling is a sport and a form of entertainment where there is no limit. You can live vicariously through the underdog who is overcoming the odds, sticking it to their boss, beating their bullies, you could even see your hero unexpectedtly become a villian. Imagine if ONE CHARACTER FROM ONE OF YOUR FAVOURITE TV SHOWS JUST SHOWED UP AND ENTERED AS THE SAME CHARACTER FROM A DIFFERENT TV SHOW. Like Imagine if Thanos just walked into Game of Thrones. All these crazy scenarious are in the reality of professional wrestling. Suspend your disbelief and get drawn in to the absolute pure magic of it

Like imagine during the Euro's final if Gareth Southgate whacked the referee with a chair, picked up the ball with his hands and threw it in Frances net and the ref only saw the ball go in, gave the whistle and England won the euros, it literally can happen.

There is absolutely no limit to professional wrestling and I guarantee there is something for everyone. It's the realest damn TV show in the world, all your favourite movies are fake, sorry to break it to you kids

Habibi funk!

Habibi funk is a genre that spans across the Arab world and multiple genres; this includes funk, jazz and soul. Habibi funk records basically rediscovered and redistributed this music across the world! They were founded by Jannis Stürtz, who is based in Berlin and first became interested in the genre when he visited Morocco.

Notable names include Ahmed Mahek, Roger Fakhr and the band Ferkat Al Ard. The lead singer of Ferkat Al Ard, Issam Hajali created the song Ana Damir El Motakallim, which has been referred to as Lebanon's answer to stairway to heaven because of its epic qualities.

A lot of Habibi funk borrows from Palestinian poetry and discusses issues of oppression, love, life and American imperialism. It's a very eclectic genre that I was so happy to discover!

A lot of these artists had a period of being incredibly popular in their respective countries and then fading to obscurity and leading normal lives. Habibi funk records has re-released, often hard to find, music which has led to it reaching wider audiences. I think engaging in music that is from other places, as we often only know of western artists, is super important and fun. A lot of habibi funk combines western styles of rock and electronic music with the traditional music of whatever country the artist is from.

One of my other favourite songs is La Ville by Ahmed Malek. It's a really fun song to dance around to!

If you are interested in listening to more Habibi funk I would recommend this playlist on Spotify.

It has the classics ;) I would definitely recommend for everyone to give it a try as the genre has a sub-section for everyone's tastes <3

Imagine a Giant Cake, Now this whole cake represents all music theory. Truth be told to produce music you only need a slice of the cake.

I'm going to give you the icing of the slice and not the whole slice as it would be even more lengthy. So today I'm going to teach you the basics of scales.

Disclaimer: I do not claim to be a professional, I am just simply sharing what I've learnt and how I use them.

Notes & Scales

It can be intimidating when you look at a piano for the first time and see so many keys. Basically all music is made up of 12 notes that repeats

Let's look at a piano roll. A,B,C,D,E,F,G (White Keys) and Bb, Db, Eb, F#, Ab (Black keys). Basically all the black keys are flats except F#(could also be known as Gb). The distance between the notes right next to each other are known as a half step E.g A to Bb is a half step, and the distance of 1 note away is a whole step E.g A to B is a whole step.

The next 12 Keys which repeat are exactly the same just higher, which is known as an octave higher.

Next up we have scales. Rather than remembering the scale what I like to do is remember a formula rather than the scale itself, let me explain.

(As long as you remember these formulas you will be able to play in any scales)

Major Scale

Root note > 1 step, 1 step, 1/2 step, 1 step, 1 step, 1 step

Minor Scale

Root note > 1 step, 1/2 step, 1 step, 1 step, 1/2 step, 1 step

So let's take the Key of CMaj, So we always begin with the Root note which is the C.

Example C Major

C (Root) > D > E > F > G > A > B

Example C Minor

C (Root) > D > Eb > F > G > Ab > Bb

As long as you remember the distance between the notes in the Majors and Minors you can play the scales in any Key of your choosing.

Final Fantasy XIV - The green DPS

Yes, I am back with another lecture on long forgotten FFXIV abilities, this time around a healer ability which no longer exists in the game... or does it?

To understand why some healers are still do this day referred to as green DPS we need to look at various role icons in the game. Tanks (the big and strong warriors going ahead and keeping the attention of the enemy on them) have an icon with a blue background, DPS or damage dealers (the ones with strong spells and big guns going pew-pew) have an icon with a red background, and the healers (who will heal and shield the party) have an icon with a green background. But who said that healers are only there to heal? Unlike in some other games, healers also have a prominent damaging toolkit, which they have to use if the party wants to beat the big bosses in endgame.

So these days, a healer who will focus more on doing damage instead of healing and supporting the party, is often called a green DPS (given the background of their role icon) and this not always meant to be a compliment, as their focus on damage often means sacrificing some other members of the party for their own personal glory on the not-official damage meters and leader boards.

Back in A Realm Reborn 10 years ago just like tanks had a defensive and damaging stance, healers also had one. This ability was called Cleric Stance, and if you activated it, it swapped your current Mind and Intelligence attributes, while increasing the potency of your damaging spells and decreasing the potency of your healing spells. Why is this important? Just like in tabletop RPGs like D&D, in FFXIV each job also has a base attribute which will determine the strength of their skills. For healers this is Mind and for magical DPS it's Intelligence. For healers the strength of healing spells was based on Mind, the strength of their damaging abilities was based on Intelligence. So with Cleric Stance they could swap between healing or damaging. Back in those days there were only 2 healers in the game, White Mage and Scholar. White Mage is a healer with strong pure heals and healing over time (regen) abilities, while Scholar focuses on pre-emptive shields and barriers and has a fairy companion.

In A Realm Reborn it was mostly Scholar being referred to as THE green DPS. Due to having the 2 fairies one being able to buff the party with attack speed and such, the other providing healing Scholar had an advantage compared to White Mage: the fairy was not affected by the attribute swap of Cleric Stance. So you could stay in your damaging stance the entire fight and let the fairy do the healing. This required you to know the fight, your party and in case of encounters with 2 healers, trust your co-healer and be able to co-operate even without having a voice chat. It was a system far too difficult for the casual players but giving the thrill and excitement to veterans. For me, coming from an MMO where a healer's role was purely to heal and didn't even have enough damage actions to be able to level without the help of other players I have to say it was overwhelming first and got yelled at in dungeons for not doing damage... I didn't know I was supposed to! But once you get the taste of Cleric Stance... you stay in Cleric Stance... and I got to love doing damage and leaving the healing for my fairy.

During the Stormblood expansion they changed Cleric Stance to be a 15 second buff giving you the damage potency boost and reducing the healing potency (without swapping your attributes) intended to be used during your so called burst window (where everyone in the party throws out the buffs and big damage skills). As I haven't been actively playing during Stormblood, I'm not sure what was wrong with this system, but when I returned in the next expansion, Shadowbringers, I was surprised to see Cleric Stance completely removed from the game.

There is still one content where this skill exists, it's the are called Bozja, the lvl80 endgame content from Shadowbringers. Here you get to use special potions and abilities, basically removing the roles of tank, DPS and healer, as everyone gets something which makes them able to do any of the encounters in Bozja even alone. One of the abilities healers get to use is called Seraph Strike, which is basically Cleric Stance as we knew it in Stormblood, paired with a dash attack. It even has the icon! Though Scholar's toolkit has changed a lot since A Realm Reborn and it's not as much a green DPS anymore as it used to be, Bozja and Seraph Strike made me learn to love White Mage, as I could be a green DPS again, completing trials and speedkills which were designed for DPS jobs to do, like this one here:

EVE Online is a very hard and complex game, and getting started is one of the hardest things you can do in the game. Because of this I have embarked on a crusade to make a good handful of videos that are directly targeted to new players getting started so that they have a reliable resource that they can look to for any questions they may have in beginnings!
