Reddit CEO Steve Huffman recently shared plans for “new types of subreddits that can be built that may have exclusive content or private areas”. While this won’t detract from the free, public tier, these new subreddits could allow new types of communities to emerge. Huffman’s comment came shortly after the announcement of the upgraded AMAs featuring RSVPs, scheduling etc, turning the Q&A-style posts into more of an event.
