Social platforms enable creators, whether massive corporations or independent artists, to connect with their fans, but staying active on them is work in itself. And it’s getting worse, as social platforms are taking different approaches to handling their content, with Meta clamping down on news, Reddit getting massive organic traffic thanks to its partnership with Google, and whatever Musk thinks he’s doing with X.
This raises the question of whether creators should spend more time tailoring their content to a few platforms or whether reposting content to many platforms, with fewer changes, is the way to go.
What’s your preference? Do you want to see your communities grow and bring in new people or do you prefer them to be smaller? How important is it for creators to be directly involved in your communities, or are you more interested in the other members? Would you rather be in a bigger community that is self-led or a smaller community where the creator has greater involvement?
