This is very interesting, as I like the look of bluesky but whenever I am on it it seems deserted like nobody’s on it? Maybe I’m not using it correctly; threads is my main Twitter clone I have been using lately and enjoying it as it’s been way less toxic and lots of good content I’m interested in, long may it last!

Use it as an opportunity to build up your followers there.

Fewer people will also mean that the noise floor is quieter so it is easier to be heard

True feel in maybe not using it right, need to find some people to follow and stuff too

A cool feature that Bluesky has is the ability to create "starter packs". You can essentially create a list of people and they can all be followed by someone with one button press. It seemed pretty dead to me too, but then I found a couple starter packs and now it's too busy if anything. There's starter packs for games journalism, streamers, art, music, movies, etc.

Oh that’s cool, how do I find the starter packs?

That I'm not actually so sure about. The ones I've seen have all been specifically posted by users. I think maybe you can access them via the person who created them's profile

This is the first time I’m hearing about it. What are the key differences compared to direct competitors like X?

Makster's avatar

it's basically the same as Twitter/X except fewer ads as far as I can tell.

If you disagree with how Musk is running it, or Musk in general then it is a suitable alternative though it is a lot quieter than twitter so I don't use it as much

im not following Musk, so dunno about him much, the ads are blocked on a hardware level for all my devices

But im also can not call myself a social network user, except JA :)

Brazil's strength has always been very high on X/Twitter. The lack of the social network has made competing apps multiply their revenues and Bluesky is just one of the proofs of this. Even networks like Reddit saw a considerable increase after X was blocked.

I've used Bluesky, but it hasn't really grabbed my attention because I'm not used to it. I think it will become more natural over time, but it's a good social network!

I've been on BlueSky since the invite process and I believed it was the best platform as a Twitter alternative ever since Musk took over and people were looking elsewhere

I'm held back as the app doesn't have native translation support at the moment but there is a good amount of artists that I follow that have migrated across so I'm having fun on there

EDIT

Turns out I’m in the first 1% users that joined

I found this the most appealing to me from the alternatives but haven't used it much yet. The problem wouldn't be the posting as I can do that via CMS, but mostly the actually using the platform, searching for people and engaging with content. X, IG and TikTok is already a bit too much to spend time on scrolling. And most of my followers are US based as far as I can tell from analytics.
