Carriers are problematic with logistics and market, they have 25,000 capacity to start with, but, put a shipyard, outfitting, repair/refuel, ect. my carrier has all but a black market, so without any cargo i'm at about 17,000 of my 25,000, so i've got 8000 cargo space.
say i wanted to go on a mining expedition for platinum, i would go into my market and select platinum, say 4000 units@250,000 a unit, first i must have the credits in my carrier balance to purchase the platinum, so that would be 1 billion credits, second, this must not exceed the cargo capacity of the carrier, i've got 8000 so all good.
now i have free cargo space of 4000, so, there's a core mining site nearby, some might go core mining, i could set the market to buy selected cores at prices relative to the high market rate, but again i need the funds to purchase items, and be mindfull of the carrier capacity.
carrier markets are not a magical thing that operates autonomously, it all has to be set manually, the credits need to be there, and the free cargo space.
