Here is my little Playlist!

https://open.spotify.com/embed/playlist/4DXLHCBvFon0T1OsXPL5vC?utm_source=oembed

So I decided to pick out my favourite songs from the artist that I did know, unfortunately, I don’t know everyone on the list so I’m super open for any recommendations for the other bands that I didn’t include in the playlist.

I’m gonna put in a little bit of reasoning as to why I decided each song for each artist.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Californication

So I picked this song because it’s one of the most iconic songs in the band history and I think in just generally, it really does hit the nail on the head with a lot of things that I still so relevant today. It’s one of the most iconic songs of all time.

LINKIN PARK - numb

Wow, what an iconic band and it is so unfortunate and so tragic that we lost Chester when we did. Their new album was so good and it just would’ve been so good to see what else he was capable of with his talent. Anyway the reason why I chose numb as the song is I just think it speaks so true to how you feel and how everyone could feel that some point in their lives. I could’ve easily picked one of their least popular songs but instead, like before, I’ve decided to go with one of the most iconic songs.

Bring Me The Horizon - And the snakes start to sing

The reason why I’ve decided to pick this song for the above artist is due to the fact that it’s honestly the only song I know of this, I’m not really into the screamo kind of metal, but I think this song has a really nice balance where it’s not too much for you.

David Bowie - heroes

Another person who was gone too soon in my opinion. This song again is one of the most iconic songs in the messaging is something that we should really hold through and there towards us especially in this modern world that we live in where we’re seeing so much violence and hatred.

Nickelback - rockstar

I’ve used this word already too much with my bounty submission, but I have to repeat it here. ICONIC. These guys are probably the most underrated band ever., they get so much stick but if you really go past all of that and listen to that songs, they are actually really really good. I remember the chokehold I was in when this song came out.

Evanescence - Bring me to life

I actually had my sister recently go and see these guys and they were playing with live Orchestra and it was truly magical. This band is so cool and is so nostalgic whenever I hear this fans name and music. I actually remember when they had a lot of the music featured in a film called daredevil back in 2003 I think. But yeah, again, one of the bands most popular songs and it really showcases Any Lees vocal abilities.

Blink-182 - all the small things

This is one of those songs that will always take you back, takes you back to much simpler time I have to admit, but it really does take you back. I actually remembered when Jedward performed this on X factor and I was absolutely buzzing about it because I really liked them for some reason. But anyway there was no way I could’ve made a playlist without featuring the most known song.

Queen - Don’t Stop Me Now

So the reason why I added this to the playlist instead of Bohemian Rhapsody, is purely because of the memory I have associated with the song. I just remember one of my favourite scenes is from a film called Shaun of the dead and there’s a scene where they’re hitting the zombie and this song is playing and I just have the best memory of that because I find it hilarious.

So those are all the bonds I know and the music that I know from them, so because of that, I haven’t created a full playlist, but I am open to suggestions with the other band, I’d love to get introduced to them with your favourite picks.

For Hole I would definitely say Miss World from the Live through this album

The song best exemplifies Hole's strengths in their lyricism and catchy choruses. It's been used in the soundtrack of Yellowjackets and I may have screamed a lil when the song comes on. It's a good analysis of beauty standards and the dark side of pageants.

For Pink Floyd I would say Hey You (very hard pick too many bangers) but I LOVE the guitar in this and the lyrics are very poignant

For Queen, I would say Who wants to live forever but I am biased because I can't listen to that song without crying

Freddie's voice is impeccable as always but I think it reaches new heights in this song.

For David Bowie I would have to say station to station

It's more of an underrated one, but I think his use of sound effects create a really interesting to listen to soundscape (all train based surprise surprise!). I think it's one of his most creative songs.

The songs that I have selected, are not necessarily the most well known, or indeed the best, but they are songs that have always resonated with me as stand out tracks, that perhaps don't get the recognition, and/or airtime play that they deserve as they get overshadowed by other perceived big hitters.

I've not created a full playlist as I am not familir with all the bands, but am 100% taking recommendations as to what i could / should include for those bands that I do not know!

This would be my playlist for the musicians that I know on the list:

Jimi Hendrix, All Along the Watchtower - there is just something about this song that is perfect - I know it's a cover of a Dylan song, but this is Jimis song - he made it his own, the solo is absolutely inspired, and is an absolute breath of fresh air. His vocal lines are tremedous too - for someone that is not "rated" as a singer, i think vocally this is perfect.

RHCP, Zephyr Song overlooked for a lot of reasons, but i love tthis song - it feels like a summer breeze washing over you in the dappled sunlight. The chorus makes this song!

Muse, Map of the Problematique This is perfect, from the appregiated guitar at the start, to Doms simple but infectious drum pattern - this song is always absolutely killer live. There is an anxiety in Matts voice when he sings this live. Not necessarily a tear jerker song, but it gets me every time!

Pink Floyd, The Narrow Way - this is an overlooked masterpiece. Feels like something that The Doors could have done

Linkin Park, Breaking the Habit I love the simplicity of this song, but there is a darkness to this song - the physical hurt and mental anguish that you suffer daily cause by yourself. If you get the chance, the first performance live by LP is incredibly emotive.

David Bowie, Let's Dance - wanted to put Queen Under Pressure, but included LD instead as Queen is below! - LD is a cracking song - smooth like butter, and silky, suave and sophisticated - everything that I am not, but everything that DB was! Such a cool song.

Rammstein, Fire Frieu This is not Du Hast, and is not Sonne, but more of an up tempo stomper from Rammstein - always cracking Live... i will never forget the pyro at Brixton Academy.... SO GODDAMN HOT!

Metallica, Battery (live in LV 2022) - i laboured over this song! - Battery is a giver. It always has been and always will be! Dropped from their core setlist in recent years, but occasionally drops into the fold - Battery is an absolute banger of a song.

Nickelback, RockStar A bit of fun in the noughties!

Blink182, I Miss You I get the feels when this song comes on - it feels like Love Cats by The Cure - but i love how they popped the strings so front and centre in the mix - the orchestration is so simple, but is genius to listen too. B182 might not be everyones cup of tea - but this song showed a maturity that they often get overlooked for. Such a great song.

Queen, Under Pressure - what can i say - this song is perfect - i love the simplicity and cleanliness of this song - there is something so raw and so energetic from two artists at the top of their games - there is something really special about this song - i don't see this as a Queen song, or a DB song rather a collaboration between friends with a mutual respect for each otehr that allowed both vocalists, and the musicians to breath and deliver such a perfect performance!
