Yale University in the USA is introducing a course dedicated solely to Beyonce, titled "Beyoncé Makes History: Black Radical Tradition History, Culture, Theory & Politics through Music". It will "examine Beyoncé’s work from her 2013 self-titled album to 2024’s ‘Cowboy Carter‘, as a lens to study Black history, intellectual thought and performance."
What are your thoughts? Do you see the value in studying a course like this? It's undeniable she's one of the most influential popstars of all time, whether you like her music or not, but is it over the top to have a course dedicated to her? She's not the first to have a course about her though, as there are courses and classes at Arizona State, Stanford, UC Berkeley, New York, and Texas all about Taylor Swift, not to mention a course at Concordia about Kanye West.
