How to play Poseidon God of the Oceans in SMITE 2!

Poseidon is a strong magical god with a simple kit. He deals a lot of damage, making him one of the most op gods in Smite 2

Poseidon passive

Changing Tide: Successfully hit basic attacks to gain Tide. Poseidon has increased Movement Speed and his abilities deal additional damage based on his Tide amount. Using abilities decreases Tide.

Poseidon abilities

• Tidal Surge: Poseidon summons a wave passing through all who stand before it, dealing Magical Damage and Knocking Back enemies. If this ability is used while "Trident" is active, it will send out two additional waves.

• Trident: Poseidon activates his Trident, gaining increased Attack Speed, Movement Speed, and Basic Attack Damage. While activated, Tidal Surge & Basic Attacks fire two additional shots.

• Whirlpool: Poseidon summons a whirlpool, Crippling, Vortexing, and dealing Magical Damage repeatedly to enemies in the area.

• Release the Kraken: Poseidon summons the Kraken, dealing Magical Damage and Slowing enemies in its area. Enemies in the center area when it spawns take increased Magical Damage and are Stunned and Knocked Up.

This build I came up with, you can deal crazy damage and you have almost infinite cooldown.

• Start the game by leveling up your 1, this will help you clear the first wave before the enemy mid lane.

• You have good movement speed, so you have to rotate to duo lane and solo lane very much to help them with their lane.

• For team fights, the timing of your Kraken is important, with it you can ult multiple enemies and help your team to kill them so fast and win the game.

POSEIDON

A mid and long range attack god, can be useful in dealing good damage against enemies and and hold by itself the mid lane.

With it's passive skill, Changing Tides, it always good to maintain the constant attack to be always with the tides high since using skills consumes accumulated tide, it will give bonus at movement and attack.

The first skill is a traditional one for most of gods, a straight line with a little of area attack, the Tidal Surge will summon a small wave that will deal magical damage and knock back the enemies hit by it! With the combination with the second skill, the Trident, it will add two smaller waves that will be summon in diagonals. Besides that the Trident skill will increase two more waves in the basic attack that will be show in parallel with the main one, and finally it increase attack speed and damage and movement speed.

The Whirlpool is very useful to disband the enemy team and kill some minions at the enemy tower, it will create a small vortex that will hit 6 times within 3 seconds, dealing a decent magical damage, so nobody will want to be inside the vortex while in the middle of a team fight the enemies will need only to deal with the clipping effect.

And one of the most insanely great looking ultimate is the:

This skill will be exactly that, will spawn a Kraken that will deal good damage around it influence area in its center will deal a extreme damage while stunning and knocking the enemies up.

My main build is for the middle lane, and I use those items to max out my magical attack increasing my intelligence and mana points and regeneration, since I said the advantage of the strong attack of the god, he can easily deal with the other gods by himself and a attack focused building is the best option, the attack is the best defence!

Poseidon God of the Oceans

Poseidon is a mage character, who bases his damage and abilities on intelligence, capable of being used both as a jungler and as a mid liner. Thanks to his abilities he is able to do great damage in a short time as well as having movement speed which makes him perfect for jungle or sneak attacks.

Abilities

Passive: For every successful basic attack Poseidon gains 10% of a tide up to a maximum of 3, Tide increases Poseidon's movement speed and damage.

When having the Tide at maximum, Poseidon gains 10% movement speed, 15% increased damage in abilities and every time you use an ability the tide decreases.

1. First ability (Tidal surge): Poseidon throws a wave in front of him causing magic damage and knock back to enemies hit by the wave.

   If Poseidon activates his second ability before casting this ability, he will create 2 additional waves that will go along with the main one. And these waves pass through everything and the use of the ability consumes 10% of tide

2. Second ability (Trident): Poseidon activates the trident gaining an increase in attack speed, movement speed and damage on basic attacks, While active Poseidon will launch 2 extra basic attacks along with the main one.

   This ability has no Tide cost and additional basic attacks apply ability damage.

3. Third ability (whirlpool): Poseidon summons a Whirlpool where the player selects within a certain range causing slowness and magic damage to enemies inside the Whirlpool, In addition, the whirlpool creates a vortex effect and draws enemy gods into the center, making it more difficult to escape from this ability.

   This ability does a maximum damage of 6 hits over 3 seconds and has a Tide cost of 15%

4. Fourth ability (Release the Kraken): Poseidon summons a kraken from the ground wherever the player targets within a certain area, dealing high magic damage and slowing enemies in the kraken's area. Enemies in the center of the ability will be knocked into the air thanks to the knocked up and will receive the highest magic damage and the stun of this ability.

   This ability costs 20% Tide, does 30% slow, and at its highest damage scales with 100% intelligence.

Tips to play Poseidon

• Thanks to his passive and abilities Poseidon can gain a lot of movement speed which can be used to escape surprise attacks from enemy gods or arrive in time for a team fight or steal an enemy Buff with some ability

• If you combine the first and second skills it is very useful to quickly push the Minions or push enemy gods that are chasing you taking advantage of the 3 waves and the movement speed gained

• The Whirlpool is very useful for clearing minion waves, stealing or killing jungle buffs, dealing ranged damage, harassing enemy gods, and the best way to use it is to cast the whirlpool first at the feet of an enemy god and then throw the kraken so that this god cannot escape and you can hit the kraken perfectly

• The Kraken being a very powerful and ranged ability is very useful for stealing things from the jungle, dealing group damage to enemy gods or instantly killing an enemy god without much protection.
