The Program

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3083008/

It's a biographical drama about Lance Armstrong - Wikipedia

I recommend this movie as it will picture a difficult life and the outcomes of the lies of a person, who won Tour de France 7 years in a row (currently voided). And overall it tells about the world's greatest cycling race backstage.

I, Tonya!

Biopic about Tonya Harding (first US women to land a triple axel in competition) and the controversy surrounding her.

Margot Robbie is an absolute powerhouse of an actor in this and I think this film highlights the turning point of her being respected as an actor and not solely being portrayed as a blonde bombshell.

For me its got to be "Senna", didnt know too much about him before watching other than he was a good driver, after this you realise he really was special. I wont say anything else incase you dont know anything about him, its formula 1, back when it was a different sport. It's a movie documentary on his life, making it even more engrossing as its all real footage you are watching. A must watch.

Two words; Cool Runnings.

Who doesn't love an underdog story?! And it doesn't come much more underdog than a Jamaican bobsled team with a disgraced coach played by John Candy coaching them!

It had the best blend of humour and emotion to it and as far as feel good sports movies go this has to be up there.

Not strictly a sports movie but shoutout to Fever Pitch and not just because it's written by Arsenal fan and author of High Fidelity Nick Hornby!

And in terms of how epic and the nature of the topics it was touching on I can't not mention Invictus. Being a fan of the Specials (who famously released a single called Free Nelson Mandela) and having family friends in South Africa I learned quite early on about Apartheid and what had happened in South Africa, but Invictus felt like a way to bring this to a wider audience, to entertain but to also educate and inspire those watching it, while showing that sport has the power to bring a nation together, especially one with a fractured past such as South Africa.

The Mighty Ducks

A movie that good that they actually named an NHL team after it.

Excellent choice! You've posted a normal reply here, though - if you'd like to make this a proper submission to this bounty, please use the "submit to this bounty" button. It'll also need to be a bit longer to qualify (see minimum submission requirement of 30 words). Thanks!

I've always been a big fan of football and so anything related is great. But I've always admired Christiano Ronaldo and so it would be his film called "Ronaldo". However recently I watched Iron Claw in cinema which was based on a true story of a hall of famer family in wrestling, incredibly moving. They now go down as the greatest family to ever wrestle.

If you like and love Ice Hockey, then this movie is for you! It is called "The Might Ducks", it's a sports comedy-drama film. It was distributed by Walt Disney Pictures.

It's about a group from "DISTRICT 5" and essentially they have no practice, no equipment and no drive to work as part of a team, the coach, teaches them this etc. It's very hard to explain without quoting Wikipedia, just go watch it, and you won't regret it.

Really enjoyed Rush, the story of James Hunt and Niki Lauda’s rivalry in 70s. I thought they did a great job replicating the sound and feel of the cars back then. It has a great cast too. Worth a watch! 👍

I really enjoyed that one too.

Rush - for any F1 fan it was brilliant to be able to re-live the rivalry that defined the sport.

Whilst there is some questionable acting at points, it's a must watch for anyone with so much as a passing interest in F1.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story

There are a lot of great comedy sports movies (Semi Pro, Happy Guilmore, Talladega Nights) but Dodgeball is my favourite.

It may not be a biopic or be remotely serious but it's just such a good movie. It nails the comedy and feel-good story and the cast do a great job of making sure it's as silly as can be without being so absurd it becomes irrelevant.

So many iconic lines to quote from this movie and can be watched over and over again.

One of the best sports film that i seen was Moneyball with brad pitt. Faced with a limited budget, Beane teams up with Peter Brand, an economist, to revolutionize player selection using statistical analysis and unconventional methods. I love it!

My favourite sports movie would have to be The Replacements starring Keanu Reeves and Gene Hackman. NFL players are on strike and the teams are forced to look for replacement players to keep the season going. It has some great humour, as well as one of the best inspirational speeches about success and glory.

I was so hoping someone would say this. Its one of my favourite movies ever - watch it at least once a year with my dad - and so many people have never heard of it!

I know what you mean, I'm amazed at how few people have heard of it. They are definitely missing out

Supervention

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3309038/

A film not about a person but about a whole segment of sport, about pushing the limits, a showcase of freeskiing, free riding and a little bit of snowboarding.

With a stellar cast (Aksel Lund Svindal, Jesper Tjader, Tim Durtschi, Terje Håkonsen), it's a feast for the eye and a broadener of horizons, or at least it had been for me.

Recently I also watched Le Mans '66 and Ferrari, I have to say I quite enjoyed both of them but since there had been already plenty of car suggestions, I left them as a "bottom note".

D'oh! I posted a reply instead of a submission and someone else has my first choice now. So, I am going to go with Happy Gilmore. Such a great underdog story. A failed Ice Hockey player with a short fuse takes his skills (and aggression) to the golf course. So many great lines: I eat pieces of s*** like you for breakfast, You eat pieces of s*** for breakfast? It's all in the hips Just tap it in. Give it a little tappy. Tap Tap Taparoo.

I'm not really into basketball (probably because I'm too short to play it...) but I REALLY enjoyed 'Hustle' starring Adam Sandler.

I thought it was a really well laid out, gripping story and was my first time watching Sandler in a serious role. His performance was exceptional and I use this film as evidence of his range, I find people tend clown on him a lot for being a typecast which is sad as he's very talented!
