Edge have also not been given a copy. The interesting part to me of the linked article is that Digital Foundry have been given access as long as the rest of EG don't play it. Suspect this story will have some let's through this week.

UPDATE 5.45pm UK: An hour after the publication of this blog, Eurogamer was provided Starfield review code by Bethesda. As stated below, our review will not be completed before embargo - but we can now begin our work to provide you with Eurogamer's judgement of the game.

I don't know why MS/Bethesda have done this, but as a general member of the game purchasing public I know what it looks like and it's not flattering for them.

Yeah lots of wild speculation about as to what has happened/why (it's more than just these 2 impacted), but it's not a good look and risks taking over the narrative in this lead up to launch.

Thinking back to my days in editorial, were Bethesda not always funny about getting review codes out early if I remember correctly? Did they not state at one point that the practice was going to stop?

Yeah I read that in some place as part of the big debate about it. Some of the ideas/beliefs/motives people have thought up and speculated about out there are pretty wild and far fetched!
