Quick note - this isn't a hit piece against Game Reactor. In their article they pose some fair questions, and loads of places are using similar headlines.

I'd never have assumed it was!

For me the game feels a little unfinished and very rushed. 88% seems a little generous. I appreciate they said 'Summer 2023' but for the sake of the existing player base and new player base alike I'd have liked to see them push it back a month or two (more than they already did) to include some key features that the game is missing from CS:GO.

I've seen it from a few game studios recently. I appreciate there's pressure from fans to get a game out when they said they would and maybe that's an issue with the management setting unrealistic expectations for content teams. But from a consumer standpoint, I'd rather that what I'm paying for (or not in the case of CS2) is a fully fledged title with all the expected features.

It won't stay at 88% for long. Game Reactor ran this headline a bit hastily, but the essence of the story remains valid: because CSGO's Steam page was literally transformed into CS2's, the latter is dragging down the former's once-high rating, hence the discrepancy between all reviews (88%) and recent reviews (67%). If that continues, it might become Valve's worst-rated game.

Unless you count Artifact, which seems a strech...

Agreed. I was a bit surprised by way the game was rolled out. I have auto-updates enabled on steam and I turned my pc on one day and was greeted by a new CS desktop icon staring back at me.

It’s seems a shame that CS:GO wont be memorialised on steam for the great game it was. Hopefully Valve can pull their finger out and implement the changes the community are so desperately crying out for and bring that % rating back from the brink… 😬

There's only one thing that will let it keep the high rating it currently has...bring back surfing maps! 🏄
