Despite what recent coverage of the newly released Counter-Strike 2 is saying, it actually isn't Valve's worst-rated game ever.
Sure, fans are upset that a lot of the features from CS:GO are missing, including game types, maps, and customisation options, but it can't claim to be the worst-rated Valve game!
Counter-Strike 2 is currently sat at a solid 88% (very positive) based on all reviews. Even the recent reviews are sat at 68% (mixed), just 2% off positive!
For comparison, Team Fortress Classic is on 85% all reviews and 84% recent reviews, and DOTA 2 is on 82% all reviews and 71% recent reviews. Both games ranked lower on both measures.
I'm not a fan of games launching with little content, but Counter-Strike is a juggernaut. It's a cornerstone of esports, it's got millions of positive reviews, and it's just going to get new content.
This mixed score, albeit possibly justified by how the transition was handled, is a temporary thing, and certainly doesn't justify being called "Valve's worst-rated game ever".
I might be biased though as I've got a lot of love for the Counter-Strike franchise! 😅
